Keeping you all in our prayers. And praying for rain as well. Hugs. Nan
Hi Irene, we are fine as we are only 5 minutes away from the coast. Our local beach is Redhead ( have a look on Google Earth ). As Judy has said the smoke is the worst thing. I really feel sorry for Asthmatics as it's so difficult to breathe.
I was talking to a friend down at the coffee shop I frequent and she said her daughter was safe from the fires. One day last week when the winds were bad, the fire escaped her place, the next day a fire storm came through and the house is gone! You just can't pick where the wind will blow the embers and that's all that is needed to start off a new fire. Our bush undergrowth is just tinder dry.
I heard on our local radio station today that some children out west where the drought has been over 7 years have NEVER seen rain!!! Isn't that amazing? Love to all who are in the fire's path. Love Chris
These photos were taken from a upstairs window on Friday afternoon ,to show how bad the smoke is from fires burning 60-80 klms away as the crow flies. We are lucky but the smoke can make it hard to breathe properly.I think there are a lot of people are having breathing problems from this dense smoke. It would be nice to see a blue sky again or some rain.
Photo 1 facing east is the ocean sky horizon .
Photo 2 facing west usually you can see mountains in the distance.
Having seen photos of some of the damage that the fires have caused it is dreadful. For all those who have lost their homes possessions are mainly replaceable but people are not. The fire services must be stretched to keep working in such a difficult situations. Yes I hope that the Australian Cuties are safe. Take care
