Does anyone use fabric stabilizer instead of embroidery stabililzer in projects? I'm thinking about using something soft instead of stiff and not washaway for stabilizer. Seems with the ton of stabilizers I have that one of them would work, but I'm not thrilled with the results I get on some fabrics.

Sure... use it only.... but because I didn't know there was a special Embroidery stabilizer! Works very well... good luck.

We all probably make do with whatever we have on hand! Probably a lot less expensive than some of the stabilizers I use.

Do you use temporary spray glue as well on the shirts?

I use any thin fabric first in the hoop with the batting. The only time I use paper stabilizer is when the design has heavy stitching or satin lettering, I slip a piece underneath the hoop. For free standing the washaway woven stabilizer, not the plastic one. I embroider mostly quilt blocks, bags, place mats etc.

I use a light weight sew in stabilizer on my quilt labels. HOWEVER, I hoop both the sew-in and the fabric and run a framed basting stitch before I stitch my label. It has worked fine for me, for that, so far.

I have used sewing interfacing at times with good results but not the iron on type.

Maybe I'll try both types and see how my machine likes it.

I use a light weight fusible fabric stabilizer with an embroidery stabilizer often. also have used the same light weight stabilizer with heavier fabric such as canvas or denim.
