These storms look devastating. I have not experienced one and hope not to have that stress. I can't keep up with the dust in my house and have most supplies etc in plastic. I can imagine what one of these could do and it is not pretty. 4 in a week is too much! Hope this dust season ends for you soon.
My Sister lives in Forbes and is experiencing these dust storms too, it's spooky to experience and I really don't want to I hate dusting lol..
I’ve never seen anything like this before. My Grandma mind went directly to wondering how mothers of young children cope with them when the kids can’t go out and play, how to instill a healthy respect for the storm but not instill great fear, etc. The world is such a complex place.
OMG......how terrifying this would look coming at you......I can't even imaging trying to keep things clean with these going on........
I suspect they called it a "haboob". We get those in Arizona in the summer time.
I have heard about dust storms but never experienced one. All I can say is WOW!
oops that is a lot of dust coming your way....better don't go for a walk, stay inside and keep everything closed as much as possible...Hope for you it will be over soon..
First dust storm I ever experienced was in Texas. I was teaching and looked out through the blind slats and saw the sky was golden yellow. I asked my kids, "What is it?" I really had no idea. Looked kinda like the end of the world might be! Problem is, afterwards you dust everything, and for 2-4 more days more dust works through the cracks and settles again. Second weird weather experience there was MUDBALLS, which is a dust storm with rain following behind. You can't drive in it because the mudballs hit your windshield and may be 10" wide, so zero visibility. So, everybody just slams on brakes and tries to get off the road. Then, there were tornadoes... But, don't get me wrong, I loved Texas and especially the warm-hearted, very friendly people there.
Mother Nature throws some challenging things at us sometimes & you are so right about the dusting. LOL
I saw this on the TV this morning. I can only feel for you. One other time a number of years ago we had a Dust Storm that had come all the way from the Outback and we got enough that you could see and taste it. And that was on the East Coast nothing like you are dealing with and so many got ill from it.
Hope you have masks you can put on while you battle this.
Stay safe.
I stay inside & close everything up & hope it keeps some of the dust out. I went looking for kitty when it started & I couldn't see over the road or even the end of my street but found my kitty laying on the verandah so brought her inside. Shes getting on in age & don't want her getting sick with the dust
Well just tried to edit so I could fix spelling error but I can't find how to do it, Have asked before & just found the post & did what it said but didn't work for me so of course it should say frequent..
Be sure to save the changes when you edit, otherwise it will revert back to the original.
I am sure nobody noticed the spelling, to busy looking at the picture. Perhaps once we get rain it will settle the dust. Years of drought and still no sign of rain where it is needed. Hopefully this year it rains in the right areas perhaps if and when it does it will end these dreadful dust storms. Ours is a crazy country bush fires all over the country, then floods. I often wonder what happens to the flood waters, I can never understand why the flood waters cannot be saved by using cannels and saved in a very large storage area. But then I am just a mere female. LOL
