Hi Cuties! I thought I would show and tell you, Nora is not the only one who likes to play-lol I am making new clothes for her dolls. The small Frozen doll, I'll tell you about later, was bought at the thrift shop and came only with her moulded panty. So, I made her a polka dot dress and shoes. I didn't have a pattern for either one, but luckily the draft one I drew up fit. Once you make a pair of shoes, the only hard part is not getting burnt! I know why it's called a hot glue gun...

I made Nora's 'Our Generation' doll a leotard that I had a free pattern for. It fit an American girl doll and these are the same size. So I was gonna make a tulle skirt but it ended up looking better on the Frozen doll, after trimming the length. So I drew up a leotard pattern from her dress top and looking at the AG leotard pattern. Luckily again, it fit. So then I used the rest of my tulle and made a skirt I think you will agree looks a lot better for her size. (Don't look at her ballet shoes, as they are not finished at time of photo) The leotards velcro at the shoulders, so easy on and off.
The black beret was included with the doll on the right in the last picture. In fact, it is tagged to her head, so it stays put. However, I did make her long waisted lavender dress and gray stockings. My first time to use this pattern and I thought it was a little too long waisted so on the pink one, I cut off about a half inch at the bottom top edge. I posted it in Projects because it has a rose design, from suebox on it. I was concerned it might be a little too big for a doll but I think it's ok now that it is made. The design stitched out beautifully, no problem at all.
You know those socks they give you to put on at the hospital with the gripper stuff on the bottom suppose to keep you from slipping and falling down? Well, that is what I made the stockings out of.-lol- I wasn't going to cut my good socks up, my feet freeze as it is, but I wasn't going to wear these at home either. So I made them putting the grip stuff on the inside and it helps to keep them up on her too.
Naturally, the first one I made had to end up being Frozen's because the waist to crotch was too short. So then I added an inch next time and the bigger dolls got it.
I'll have to show that one later because I forgot to take a picture. Nothing pretty, mind you.
Okay, if you're still reading, I'll tell you about the 'Frozen Doll and the Thrift Shop'.

Nora is six now and losing teeth about every two weeks. Well, her mom brings her here for her Papa to pull them out. I usually get things ahead for times like this as a surprise or 'prize' as Gus calls it and he gets one too.
After this happened a couple times, the next time they came to visit Gus wanted a 'prize'. I asked him if he had a loose tooth. He shook his head and said, "NO, but Ora does!" to which Nora screamed, "NO, I don't!"
Gus is three, but loves his sister or the prize so much, he is willing for Nora to loose all her teeth, so he can get a prize!-lol

By the way, Frozen was only $2, but her hair was a frizz ball, in a ponytail. Nora couldn't stand it, so I kept the doll here and for 2 days as I worked on this hair. Such an improvement, makes me regret I didn't take before pictures. Nora was amazed-lol
Well, I hope you lasted long enough to read the story of Frozen & the Thrift Shop and enjoyed your read. I also hope you like the doll fashion show-lol-Have a good night or day Cuties-Toogie

Girlfriend, there was NO luck involved. You are just good at what you do. I'm envious. Hopefully some day I can come back to sewing. I miss it. Work is challenging too though, so I am content. Brilliant how you tamed that hair! I may try it on mine this weekend. LOL

Wow!! The outfits are adorable!!! And I read how you "fixed" the Frozen doll's hair - Great job!! I loved the story about Gus volunteering Nora to lose a tooth for a "prize"!!! Our Vivian had a new tooth coming in behind one that was loose. The dentist told her - that if she hadn't pulled it by a certain date - then, he would. She worked and worked at it and got it pulled the day before her dentist appointment. She wouldn't let anyone else touch it. Said she would do it herself (and she did). Hugs to you!!

I'll have to tell Nora about your Vivian because Nora's new tooth was already coming out the last 2 teeth.

How's a girl gonna learn about style unless her dolls have style? These are so cute and you poured a lot of love on this project.

Remember when Nora was about 3 and she refused to put on the clothes her daddy was trying to dress her in? She said it was because they didn't match. It was true they didn't!-lol
Nora was born with style but she gets it from her mamma, not me-lol Thanks for looking Betsey!

You give me far too much credit, but thank you. I am glad I can do this for her. Who knows, she may have a suitcase of American Girl doll clothes before it's over. Her mom had one full of Barbie clothes my mother and I made her! Do you know how many little Barbie outfits it takes to fill a medium suitcase?... A lot!-lol

Hi Toogie, a great story and I love the finished products! I want to know how you got that blonde hair so smooth on the Frozen doll if it was so frizzy? Love Chris

You find any and every thing on google-lol-One place said to use fabric softener. I didn't have any liquid softener, so I put 3 dryer sheets in a glass bowl of hot, hot water. I turned her upside down, with only the hair in the bowl of solution. I soaked her most of the first day, every once in a while starting to brush some out. I used a plastic bristle doll brush because I didn't have one with wire bristle, like they recommend. I figured at this point what damage could it do. I must say AG doesn't recommend the softener in their AG hair tho. Brushing out rows of hair at a time. It IS very time consuming. When I got her hair done I found she had water inside her body. It must have got in from the 'roots'. So afterward I just turned her upside down again and let it drain back into her finished do, to dry. It worked. No water inside....I told Nora, "Aren't you glad you like to brush your own hair? Otherwise we might have to turn you upside down in a bowl overnight." To which she just replies, "Gram!"-lol because she knows I'm teasing her.-lol

Yes I made it to the end, you have done good with the dolls and love how you explained your process for us it saves having to ask a lot of questions .. lol You gotta give little Gus credit he's got the teeth thing worked out, so long as he doesn't try to loose his. hugs Marian

The last two teeth pulling was such an ordeal, we will have our hands full to ever pull Gus' loose teeth. Nora whined and cried so much before, she has him scared, I'm sure. Once she ever opens her mouth for Papa to get his big fingers inside, the tooth practically falls out. It's dreading the extraction so much, she works herself into a tizzy.
