UPDATE below-Hi Cuties! I finished my granddaughter's quilt and pillowcase last night. I washed it this morning, with color catcher sheets, so the black wouldn't dull or fade on the other colors. I was so happy none of the blacks faded. I dried it and the pillowcase and I love the fluff of the quilt. Can you see the fluffiness in the pictures?
I had so many quilting options, from so many of you dear Cuties and while I appreciated all input, I realize my limits and admit I need more practice. I decided on just a crosshatch or grid quilting, with a LA ruler. My wrist was killing me from the first day. I am wearing my wrist brace again, until it feels better.
I embroidered her label on back and even though I used an interfacing on backside, it sure wrinkled up after washing. The quilt also shrunk a little, after quilting and washing, and now is 58 x 78 inches. Here in this photo, it is placed on top of a queen bed.
I think she will like it. I sure do. Before I quilted it I was already regretting I didn't make it 90 x 100. When my wrist was hurting I was glad it wasn't any larger-lol
She came after work today, still in her uniform. Can you tell she liked it?
Speaking of balancing your colors, my husband has no sense of color, and IF I say anything, he goes off. Since he is older he must have outgrown it because his easy going nature is out the window. Anyway the other day he had on a turquoise tee shirt. (I detest tee shirts only because he won't wear a button up unless I blow up) So he decides he's a little chilly and before we leave he puts on a flannel shirt over it. You can still see the turquoise shirt at the neck front with the country blue plaid flannel on top! Of course I just had to say how it clashed and he says they are both blue and went out the door like that!
Your granddaughter will treasure it. The label is a nice touch!
Sorry about your wrist, take care. Hugs
Sorry about your wrist. Take it easy. I think doll's clothes are the limit for a while :)
Pam
I have one of those, if I don't check he would wear the most outrageous colours together, other than that he is a sweetie.
Thanks for ๐ looking!!!
Hugs, Lidia
