On this day in 1979, my DH & I were married - in Pennsylvania, 3 days after the Three Mile Island nuclear plant accident. Those of you who around back then know how frightening and uncertain everything felt at this time.

My relatives were told to evacuate from central PA and leave their homes without knowing when they might return, if ever. The families gathered together at a joyous event.

Fast forward 41 years and here my DH and I are in our third week sheltering in place in NY. Told not to leave our home except to shop for groceries, pick up prescriptions or go to the bank for money.

No gatherings allowed. Weddings and college graduations are cancelled. No grandchild's birthday party. No visits to grandma at the retirement home. No going out to your favorite restaurant. No sitting at the bedside of someone you love. Nor attending a funeral.

As my mother used to say, "this too, shall pass."
And I pray that it will be sooner than later.

I've told our kids the same, "this too shall pass". We are on day 18 of our isolation. My husband is the one we worry the most about. He and I are still down in Florida and we will stay until we can go home. Thank goodness I have an embroidery machine with us. I want to wish you a wonderful Anniversary - you will always remember this one! Stay safe you and yours!! Hugs, Laura

Thanks, Laura. All but one of my neighbors are still down in Florida or South Carolina. They won't be coming home until things get better up here.
One plus to an empty neighborhood, is that our back yard is being visited with lots of wildlife. So far we've had a hare, several deer that have a taste for our hydrangea, a mink, foxes, rabbits and one particular chipmunk who has decided to move INTO one of our bird feeders!

There's been a endless stream of migratory and resident birds visiting the feeders to see what the squirrels and chipmunks have left them.

Hope you can get back home soon. Until then, stay safe, stay well, stay in place. Hugs*, Deb

Happy anniversary Deb and I pray too that this soon will pass. We are doing well staying at home. We are very fortunate that our local shopping centre is only a short walk away. We have our doctor's surgery, our chemist, Coles supermarket etc. As Trev and I are over 65 we can shop at Coles between 7.00 - 8.00 in the morning Monday,Wednesday and Friday. On Tuesday and Thursday our emergency/health care workers have that opportunity. Love Chris

Thanks, Chris! Our senior shopping time is 6 AM-7 AM Monday thru Friday. I guess they figure old fogies are up at the crack of dawn anyway.
Stay safe, stay swell, stay at home.

Your mom was a very wise woman. Thanks for reminding us that this is not the first time we have faced such uncertainty. And congratulations on celebrating a wonderful 41 years together. It may be a quiet day, but it is still a day of happy memories

Congratulations on the anniversary. I well remember the impact Three Mile Island had on me - I gave birth on March 16 that year!

If you need to have a funeral, consider convening a meeting on the internet. Everyone can say their nice things about the person, someone can read selected scripture, tell the stories. It doesn't have to be in a church or synagogue or mosque or graveyard, does it? Then perhaps on the anniversary of the person's passing the family/friends can gather for a special meal and remembrance.

Congratulations to you two. 41 years WOW. I wish you many more.

I am sorry that there will not be a big party, family meetings and hugs. Stay save, stay in your home and like you said "this too, shall pass"
