Thank you…. just in case it is good to be aware of this even though my grandson is only 6.... but they could use my son s .
My Dad got one of those calls. They said this is your grandson and my Dad said, "Ryan?". At that point they have a name but my Dad wasn't fooled. He called me and asked if Ryan was OK and we assured him it was a scam.
Yes, do be very careful. I received a similar call a few years ago. I did not fall for it. My son has cautioned too, not to answer innocent sounding questions as they may record your voice and use your answers to justify some other mischief. Stay safe from scams and viruses!
There was one going around here that was bailing grandson out of jail. Luckily, my in-laws called the grandsons mother before giving any information. They are the type that would have normally gone ahead and given the money. Why do these people have to focus on the elderly anyway. They should be charged with not only criminal charges but elder abuse as well.
There is always a scam on somewhere in the world. When eldest grandson was present I would put him on the phone. They soon stopped tyy. Yes we do need to be alert that’s what they hope we are not.
Same happened to me. What I thought was fascinating that he really did sound like my grandson, claiming he was in an accident and broke his nose. After my answer was to go to nearest hospital, the caller hung up. I must have not sounded very caring. I know my grandson would call his parents first and this was a scam.
These scams seem to have increased significantly with the quarantine. Thanks for the reminder to be cautious.
Thanks for the heads up-My husband usually answers all calls and I warn him all the time to not give ANY info.
