Don't know how (as I've been following closely) missed the end of this drama but glad it is all over for all concerned. I think we all learned something new here ....just glad it ended amicably Jo

Mary,
Thank you for your email, I hope you can see our point of view in respect to this problem. The reason you received the email in the first instance was that your details appeared in the Bookmark Section of the Cute Embroidery site under the heading "Who Voted for this Project", referring to the link to our Site.
One of the main objectives when we started the Quiltery was to be able to provide a range of innovative and cost effective quilt patterns and embroidery designs, as well as providing access to free downloads, to share with quilters and embroidery enthusiasts, both new and old the opportunity to try our designs before they buy - over the past few years we have given away tens of thousands of patterns and embroidery designs for free - then to find that some people aren't happy with this and want the entire range of our products for FREE I find quite offensive.
Giving away a free pattern/design is not done lightly as they take quite some time to design and make, not to mention the cost associated with the increased volume of traffic through the Web Site, and it is a very generous offer by Web Site Owners that they give you these to use.
The rate of Piracy over the Internet is frightening and the end result will be, designers will stop designing, discouraged by the knowledge that no one respects the amount of work that goes into each design. Ironically, these designer's products are in demand or else no one would want them in the first place. Individual designers, publishing companies and craft stores are going out of business on a daily basis - they can't sell what has already been stolen and circulated for free. Eventually, there will be no more jobs for craft designers, craft companies and craft pattern shops - and all the patterns/designs that you love will stop being available, there will be nothing new. The rate of patterns/designs being distributed is quickly exceeding the rate that new can be made - and sadly, the crafting companies, shops and designers will continue to go out of business very quickly.
We have decided in this case that we will not be looking to pursue this matter further given that we have received apologies from a number of ladies who downloaded our designs and the offending link has been removed by the site owner, albeit disappointing that she has not seen the need to at least apologise for allowing it to be placed there in the first instance.
I would suggest that the advice given in a number of emails to the Cute Embroidery Forum regarding being mindful of Links posted on the Cute Embroidery.com site should be taken on board by all your members.

It's a pity the whole thing blew up the way it did. I'm glad you have taken the approach you did and all is sorted out. *4U

designs. I have received an email from him thanking me for the apology and letting me know he realizes we did not do it on purpose and is really only concerned with the one who posted the link in the first place. So take my advice apologize and delete the designs. Again thank you to my good friend for all her advice and understanding as well as unconditional love. Lisa
