So pleased that your oven is working. Your cookies look delicious.
Cute is educational and we learn much from each other - well I do. I had never heard of Snickerdoodles but now I know what they are and they sound delicious. Bits fell out of my oven as lockdown began. It is a dreadful oven that was here when we bought the house and soon the kitchen will be replaced.
My oven has given me trouble since day one. It was bought new about 15 years ago, or 16. Anyway, we had it about a year, long enough for warranty to go out before we actually used it. The day of lockdown I used it and it never came on again. It seems that anything you NEED just adds to the stress of all this. Thank goodness I had that little portable one I keep plug in the pantry. I was still able to make homemade biscuits and cornbread and oh yeah, one cake-lol
Snickerdoodles are great. The only problem I have is the bottom wants to burn. I don't know if it's rolling in the sugar or the cinnamon, that causes that.I suspect its the sugar. If anyone has a tip, I'm all ears.
I envy you your energy toogie, mine seems to have gone by, by these days. Glad you can bake again
I am glad too! I like to have things for the grands when they come even freezing now until they can come. My mom always had snacks for my kids and they remember it to this day. As far as energy goes, I told my husband yesterday I gotta get something done. I canβt sit with him in front of the TV because it makes me lazy.
Oh, these look great!! I want to bake but, I am out of eggs!!! I am proud that you fixed the oven! Good for you! Before we retired - my DH traveled every week. Of course, if the heater had to give out or if our car had to break down, he was always out of town. I had to fix toilets, beg a ride from a neighbor to pick up a fixed car - and even take the kids to a hotel, to keep everyone warm. Made me appreciate single parents! Now, if we have a catastrophe - the pressure if off. Please know, I am not downing my Dear Husband because he worked hard for us and it wasn't easy for him to be away from us and home!! Hugs, stay safe!! (and eat a cookie for me) Laura
Laura I think itβs some kind of natural law. Everything works fine as long as the fixer is there. The minute they leave it goes haywire! Thank goodness the guys have always been a DIY kind.
My ex-BIL always wanted to call a repairman but my sister fixed her washing machine several times over the years.
Hurray!!! The cookies look wonderful and I know taste good too. Enjoy each and every one you eat. Funny how you wanted cookies and I've been dreaming of making a Blueberry Breakfast cake. And no, I'm not making one because Rob and I are really trying hard to get our weight under control. Make good use of the stove. Maybe you should order a spare part in case this one wears out.
I'm ahead of you-lol-told SIL last night we will see how it works first then order a spare. Thing is, this oven never worked right from the get-go and it was a brand new GE range.
My traveling niece called last week, the blueberries are coming in loaded on the trees, we can go pick when ready. You know how slow it goes to pick those small things and fill up a bucket....
Yeah on the working oven and the handy man and woman who fixed it... The snicker doodles look delicious!!! Happy baking again!!
Yay You! I do believe you can do most anything, Toogie! Congratulations on a job well done and those yummy Snickerdoodles. Okay, it was 93 degrees yesterday and now I want to bake some cookies! Like I need cookies! ππ
I'm like you, too hot to turn an oven on here, but I had to see if it worked (and also satisfy my craving-lol) I don't know that I can do most anything, like you say, but all I had to do were unscrew a few things, plug it in and screw it all back up. Thank goodness it wasn't the $247. part!
These cookies looked so interesting I had to look them up as I'd never heard of them. I see they originated in Germany. They look lovely and the recipe is very easy. Well done on making that many. Glad your oven is working better now. Love Chris
Chris I have this recipe from when I lived in Germany. My german landlady was so good to me, Frau Kaiser (not sure if its spelled correctly). I wish I had some of her recipes now.
Yummy, We can do anything cause we can follow instructions and read maps. lol Well done.
Ohhh. This is making me hungry for cookies.
Snickerdoodles, too Angie! I don't need them but I've wanted cookies for weeks now.
Isn't that what happened the first time, Toogie? Wore it "slap" out.
I could only wish. No, I bought this stove new while we were still building the house. I probably had it a year before we got finished and hooked it up. It never did work good But by then any warranty was over. I struggled so much trying to cook or bake that I got disgusted. I used to love to bake, not so much cook but love it or not, had to feed my family. Now I am excited ( over a stove can you believe!)
its an Essential Tool for a Women. Cant do without .Congratulation on fixing it yourself hugs
Castor I told my husband one time, a woman needs to design a stove. When I have a lot of family over I need to bring out the big pots. I only have 4 burners, but you can't get two big pots, on the same side very well. The man who designed it doesn't cook!-lol
Oh, Toogie there is a long list of things designed by men who hate women. The vacuum cleaner, for example. The fax machine - no woman would have let it have that horrible while. It would have been melodious. I think they finally have consulted women about how the insides of refrigerators should look, and how adjustable they should be, and more drawers, etc.
I don't want to 'beat men up', they are good for most things. I was young when I said it, you know me, always in jest. But it is wise to have a woman, who knows about a 'working' kitchen, consulted. Some women I know just didn't cook that much...one reason their kids like to be at our house....lol
