This is really beautiful.

Incidentally, Missouri Star Quilt Company has recently purchased Nancy's Notions!

You are so welcome. I think that Nancy Zieman would have been pleased. Tacony was never a really good match for Nancy's Notions.
Quilting is my first love and your quilt is fabulous! I'm so old that I can not remember the name of this quilt. I just bought some fat quarters, jelly rolls, and cake layers and am trying to decide what design to make. This pattern would be perfect.
It’s called Double Slice. Start with 10 “ square. Cut each at 3 1/2 in x 10 equals a 3 1/2 x10 and a 6 1/2 inx10. Make two stacks as you go, putting all 3 1/2 in together and 6 1/2 together. then flip the small stack to mix up. Sew one of each back together until all are sewn back into 10 in blocks . Now cut into half at 5inch, making 2 stacks again. Flip one stack and sew once more into large block of 4 pieces.
Looks like you did a lot of work. Figure out your layout. How many you need for each row and how many rows. Sew all blocks together. You can choose to border or not.
Thanks for the extra info! It doesn't sound all that difficult to make and accurate cutting is probably important.
I got to go to Missouri Star just a year ago. Traveled in our little trailer. Had my picture taken with Jenny several times. She is just the greatest. I too came home with layer cakes and jelly rolls. I love your quilt and especially the crocheted bed skirt. Maybe if you pieced your shams you might like them better.
I only wish I had fabric to piece with! I used every piece I had. It's out of stock at MSQC and online shops you have to buy at least half yard. Shams would cost me quite a bit to buy 1/2 yd of each color to make patchwork and I would just need for the sham tops. I could back with my backing fabric as I have plenty of that. I'll think of something....or order just one color, maybe the blue with white circles.
Wasn't it so nice to meet Jenny? She is so down to earth, just as friendly and fun as in her videos. Before the show she called me up and told some of my friends to take our picture! I was beaming!-lol
I really like your quilt. Very pretty! Looks like a great size. I agree with you, MSQC is quite helpful, I had a few questions here and there and they are there to help. Great quilt, I'd like to see more :)
Thank you darmoola. If you click on my name toogie you can see any of my quilts I posted in Community. You must make quilts and I’d love to see yours. Always interested in what others make.
Toogie, your quilts are so very impressive! Just think of how much joy these lovies bring!! This quilt has a wonderful old fashion look that you just can't beat!! I would go without shams until you get the exact fabric you want. Just my humble opinion. Hugs, Laura
I like the vintage, or old fashioned look, too Laura. If I had another layer cake I would be tempted just to make the top longer, so I could cover the pillows and tuck under them like we used to make a bed, with a bedspread. Thanks for 👀
Hi Toogie, first of all congratulations on finishing yet another quilt. I think if you want shams made to match I’d use the any scraps left over fabrics you have. If you don’t have enough then I’d order some more. The blue in this is very dominant and so is the green. It depends on your taste. I’d personally go for a plain colour from the quilt and use the floral fabric as accents, but that’s just my opinion. Good luck with whatever you do. Love Chris ❤️👵🏻
I just laid the floral across the pillows to show fabric I had. When I ordered I thought I was ordering enough for my backing. Wasn’t thinking🤔 about it only was 45 In wide😩. Too busy to border and not enough for back. However, the floral did come in the layer cakes and since I needed more 10 inch squares for the top, I cut them out of this yardage. I love the feel of the fabric and can use it for something else. I like the jars but it may make it look like pillowcases instead of shams. I need to decide I guess before the fabric is out of stock everywhere. I had no scraps of any color left. As I stated, I had to cut into the floral yardage to finish the blocks.
This is so beautiful! I can't imagine the hours you put into your quilts.
This went really fast. I worked on it about 4 different days. The first day I turned one whole layer cake into blocks. Then I put it up bc worked outside or inside on other things. The next 3 times was making the rest of blocks, sewing into rows and the sewing rows together. It went fast because I started with 10 inch squares already cut and though it looks complicated, it’s really a simple pattern.
Great job as always. You do amaze me.
Call me crazy but I visualize a plain piece of fabric from any of the colors in the quilt edged with borders of some of the quilt material.
Gosh Toogie yet more super work. Your output is excellent I need time management lessons please.
When you find who is giving the lessons, pick me up, I’ll go with you!-😂🤣 I cant seem to FINISH anything. I go from one thing to the other. I was working on these blocks trying to get all my rows together when hubby wanted me to stop and cut his hair.😳 He didn’t want one the day I had time to cut it because he had just washed it😉waited until I was busy😩 so I told him when I finished my last two rows I would cut it. He waited because he gets it for a good price-🤣🤣🤣
Gorgeous and WHO did that beautiful crochet hanging below? Very fresh looking colors.
It’s not Ripley’s, but believe it or not, I got that bedskirt about 15 years at a garage sale for one dollar! I like the colors too. I’m not sure what I will name it, maybe Bee Charmer as it reminds me of Fried Green Tomatoes for some reason. The bees, the jars for honey and roses all over the wall in the movie. Thanks for looking!
