I am so thankful for my physical therapist. I have been doing my exercises like instructed, doing the stretches more than needed but did not seem to be progressing. It seemed that no matter what I did, I could not get my knee straight and the nerve pain was getting worse. When discussing all this with the therapist yesterday, she decided to do a stretch to my back. It worked! I was able to straighten my knee immediately and the nerve pain had diminished greatly. Apparently, because my knee was so bad for so long, it threw the lower part of my back out compressing a nerve. Stretching helps release it. I have to do the stretches and back exercises several times a day, but am so thankful that at least I now know why. Hope everyone is staying safe and others will be able to have their surgeries soon.

Sometimes we forget that the knee bone is connected to the bak bone! And I know even the simplest exercises can be the most effective. Hugs. Nan

Glad you got a good therapist. More important than the surgeon! (And so much cheaper.)

Keep up the good work, kustomkuddle.

I am a firm believer in PT! The therapists can be miracle workers when one is in pain or in need of assistance to learn the proper and safe way to bend and stretch to avoid further damage. I am 6 weeks post-op shoulder surgery and began a new round of PT yesterday. My range of motion is already better today than yesterday.

I’m glad to hear you have relief, mobility. It’s so good when a patient communicates with their providers. Often times a PT can help IF the patient lets them know instead of giving up. Also good to hear you’re doing your Exercises when PT is not there. I will tell my daughter. It so encouraging to hear when a patient really follows through. Good luck and hope you’re pain free soon.

Good news on getting the knee straight! Do follow therapist instructions and you will good in no time! The doctor told my sister " I have done my job now it is up to you to do yours". He was right! She did everything she was suppose to and she was rewarded with a straight and almost pain free knee.
