After ten years of good use with a desk top windows 7, with an upgrade to windows 10, I had to give it up before it completely crashed. Now using a laptop HP. The key board and mouse will take some getting use to, relearning where all the keys are and the mouse is so very different. I am hoping to get 10 years of use from the new computer.

You can make Win10 look and act like Win 7. A few steps you can do yourself following instructions. YouTube has several videos showing how. Just google "YouTube -change win10 to win7"

Thanks I will check it out. The hardest part is adjusting from a desk top to a laptop.

Congratulations Pam, I've got a new HP laptop too and I love it. I have a portable mouse on mine though as I don't like using the pad at the base of the keyboard. I have more control with a 'free' mouse. Hope you get many years of fun with it. Love Chris

I thought about adding the old keyboard and mouse but decided to tough it out and use it how it was intended. It will just take a little time.

I too have had to buy a new laptop. I told them in the shop it will be my last. If Windows 10 does any major updates I will not be going on the Internet. Hope you get used to your new one quickly. Hugs

I'm glad you are up and running again. I always have such a hard time having to relearn when I get a new computer. I will never be a techie, for sure. Enjoy stitching again.

I am not a techie either. I paid to have it set up including the embroidery programs and files transferred. That has made my life less stressful.

I also have a 12 year old Dell laptop that runs Vista. I do not have it connected to internet because of lack of security but I can run my old software on it. I only use USB drives to load design and view color charts while sewing. It sits very happily in my sewing room and that is all she is used for. In some ways runs faster and better than windows 10. I cannot give up on something that keeps working. I hope you get years of use and fun with your new toy. Hugs and Blessings, Barb

Glad you were able to get that ol' computer replaced before it totally crashed! Have you found your missing files yet?

Not yet. I have looked and did searches on the new computer, plan on plugging in the old computer today to try to have a look there. I did find out the printer is not completely installed on the new computer. Oh how I dislike trying to figure how to make stuff like that work.

Don't tell Microsoft, but I still have a laptop that uses Vista! I runs my 4D software just fine. Although I've had two PC's since that one! The current laptop with Windows 10 running Premier +2, has heard lots of "bowling words" as my Gran use to call them! LOL! 😆 Good luck with your new toy!

I hate it when they stop supporting prior versions of the same product. I get a program that is just right for what I need and they mess with it. Or the newer versions don't support other programs I love. I guess that's they way they make more money and forcing people to buy their new things. I'm afraid the era of making things to last is long gone.

Sad but true.

The computer stores want us to replace every three years. A lot depends on how long Microsoft supports the platform Windows version you bought. I found learning a few different key locations was solved in a week, but other learnings are harder. Congratulations on your new toy.

So far it is only key locations and the mouse that is slowing me down. After given more use, I am sure I will find other issues too.
