Too hot to knit, so I upcycled one of my dad's shirts (he died in 2011).

I got a new sewing machine in March and need to keep the user's manual close, as the brand is not the one I have been using since 1980. So I push the wrong buttons now and again. But today all went well.

Love it Martine, especially the touch of color for the sleeves. A beautiful job!

That's a lovely shirt. You have matched the stripes beautifully. Somebody will be happy to wear it.

Thanks Lidia. I always try hard to get stripes or (even harder) plaids right. Hugs, Martine

What a wonderful way to recycle the shirt. I think you have mastered the new machine. Beautiful work.

Thanks. I will, I'll just have to use more functions than just seams and buttonholes.

Thank you. Shirts I great for recycling. It is usually just the collar and the cuffs (specially at the side a watch is worn) that show some wear and tear.

Martine this is lovely. Well done on using one of your late fathers shirts. Mens shirts really do turn into some great pieces of work. Keep enjoying your new machine

It won't fit me, it is a size 80 cm, not years that would a bit too small too :) I am glad it looks so pretty and I have some material left for a memory quilt should I like to make one.

Love it. It' like wrapping yourselves in his arms. Congratulation on your new machine. It made me smile because every time I switch to my little portable I am looking for buttons she does not have. Pretty soon you will not need the manual next to you.

My small one was taken by my elder daughter. As it was also a Viking one it was not that different and I could use all feet on that one as well.
Now I just have to think before I push a button. It makes fantastic button holes in no time at all. And it did a great job quilting.

Great re-cycle or up-cycle! I love the green cuffs, but of course I like greens. The top looks so cool and you're right. If it's hot you sure don't want to fool with yarn. I get hot quilting even though the ac is on. When you have part of it on your lap and you're working...whew! Will this go in with your other charitable items?

Yes, it will, no little ones in the family. Oldest grands are 17, youngest 10. This is a European size 80, or about right for a twelve months old.
I love blues most, green comes a good second. But there's quite a bit of yellow and red in my stash as well.

Thanks. The shirt was fairly new and a bit of starch made sewing it quite easy. Added the green accent and wonder if I'd add a small bow at the top of the pleat in the same colour.

I had been saving it for a memory quilt, with a couple of others. But I think I have enough left for that purpose.

Nice shirt. You will think of your dad every time it is worn.
What kind of machine do you have?

I got a Bernina 470 QE. As I have a great number of extra feet for my Husqvarna Ruby, I us them both at times - which is not the ideal way to get used to a new one.
