Children havent been in the classroom for weeks. Some have followed the lessons set others havnt but all children will have learnt many more things that are not taught in school.
Kids learn more than their ABC's at school...like meeting other children that they don't know, and may be different from themselves. I taught for 31 years and every year and, depending if their parents sent the child to school when sick or not, I got at least one cold, flu, or whatever each year. I've been retired for 12 years now and have not been sick a day. But, I never had covid... yet. So, I wouldn't rush to open schools too soon as they are breeding grounds for contagious disease.
My heart goes out to the teachers and to the kids. This virus has become such a divisive subject to so many. And the kids have lost so much.
My four grandchildren return to school in ten days, all on a phased return. Throughout their teachers have been brilliant, setting work, marking it, phoning to check how they were. My friend who is a teacher has been busy with all her pupils. I am glad I am retired. Good luck to all returning to their schools
We are scheduled for 9 weeks of this but I truly feel that we will be doing this at least until after the start of the New Year. Prayers to all the school kids going back
Our kids had the choice of on-line classes or physical classes. They both chose physical and they started on Aug 20, 20. They are both happy. One senior, and the other an 8th grader. SO, I am happy for them. Of course they are my Gr Grans, so I didn't have any say in the matter! Hahaha!...
These are my grands and I really don't have a say in the matter but they didn't have much of a choice either. I feel so sorry for the loss of interaction with friends.
MyGreats start back full time next week. They are glad and so are the parents since one is a teacher and the other the Library Media Specialist. They also were bored.
Lil, I just wish these kids could go to school with their friends. It has been a very challenging week but we are pushing on. The teachers all seem to have a grace about them thru all this. GOD BLESS the teachers!
