So glad to hear you are safe and home is good. Praying power comes back soon. Hugs. Nan
We got it last night. Didn’t take him long - they have a tool that allows them to reattach the wires, if enough slack in the line. It would be expensive and time consuming too if had to replace all lines. Slept fairly well last night for 2 people been up most all the night before. Closed all windows and put the ac on. Mosquitoes are horrible😩
Yea! Good to hear you are safe - - and now have power, too. Hope it stays on and others around you are safe, too.
Yes, I haven’t heard of any deaths close this time. Last time two people in different houses not far away died from trees falling on house. It’s a lot of flooding but not at any of my family’s homes. I will show a few pictures I have. I am thinking to do in another post so Cuties don’t have to read some things they may have read before. Thanks Clinton 😉😂
So glad to read that you weren't damaged Toogie. I do pray for the others who have had to go through these Hurricanes. Keep safe, love Chris
Yes, you’re right. My cousin came up to central state to their camp. Her husband stayed at their home down south.
The roof collapsed in a room on their camp where she went!
The patio awning/roof on their house where he stayed was flipped on top of their house roof!😩
Toogie - glad that you have had no damage, but being without power can be pretty bad. Having lived in Florida for so many years, we should know to be prepared for what weather we may have, but living thru hurricanes is something else. in 2004 23 had 4 hurricanes in 6 weeks, and 3 of them went over our house. Hubby was called out of town, leaving me there without power, which also meant no water. That time we were without power for 2 weeks.
Praying that things are better, and power is back on for you and family.
All my kids have power except me. Thank goodness it is cooler now than 6 weeks ago when Laura came through. The electric company is here tonight. He said our lines are down between our house and neighbor in back of our land. Hopefully we will get power restored tonight or tomorrow.
I worry for you and your family. It sounds like you have taken steps to be safe. Maybe a generator for emergencies would help in keeping electricity to the house going. My parents had one for when they had snow storms and the power went off. It really helped a lot. Especially when my mother was older and 94+ (she lived to be 106) and it'd be hard to get to her.
So far the power company has been fairly quick to get us going again. During Katrina and Rita we were out longer and had to use a generator. We don’t have one but shared one with SIL just to keep food safe.
So thankful for your safety Toogie!!! Still praying for those less fortunate! Pray your power is restored soon!!! Stay safe!!!
So thankful for your safety Toogie!!! Still praying for those less fortunate! I really feel blessed this morning as we only received 5+inches of rain and electricity never flickered! Rain gauge ran over and only measures 5”. God is faithful!!!
We got so much rain and wind! Our lights went off early, before dark. I was expecting an outage but not that soon! Oh our power just came on!!! Yea!!!
Hey welcome to Cute!
Thank you, Toogie for letting us know!! Hope your power get restored real soon!!! Take care! Laura
Toogie from all of us here thanks for the update. I hope that you dont have to wait too long for power.
I am so glad you are safe. Hopefully your electricity will come back soon. Prayers asnwered.
Still in my prayers dear, trusting the Lord to see you through all this and keep you safe. Much love, Lillian
I hope you are all okay when you read this.
I am sure I made a comment yesterday but must have forgotten to press 'submit'. However, I did not forget praying for you and yours.
Love and hugs, Martine
And me!!😩
Thank you all for being here for me and prayers for me & my family. I can’t tell you how much it meant to me.
About to lose power😩 sister and niece already lost it- see you on the flip end!
Oh dear, praying for you and all in the path of this storm. Category 3 is already too much. We live on the gulf coast of Texas. I'm so sorry that our good luck (not to be hit) has not been shared by Louisiana and others. I shudder to think of what would happen if we were hit by another large storm. We still haven't fully recovered from Harvey. I'm sure many in the path of Delta are also still coping with Laura. May the coming year treat us all better than this one!
Amen! It’s just been downgraded to 110 mph at Cat2, thank the Lord. Still powerful though and dangerous.
Praying safety for you and all affected by this coming storm. Hope you keep your power so you can know what's going on and connect with all your loved ones - and us!
Thanks ‘clinton’ I will try- hopefully I will have a house to have electricity to!😩
May God bless and keep you all in his protective arms. I'll keep praying and you let us know when you can. I truly care and worry about you, and now our Avery. That's particularly scary.
The projected path has shifted reports at 4 am said. The weather channel will have a new update in an hour but as of now we are in the direct eye path😩
Please do keep us posted. I hope your preparations will keep you all safe, warm, and fed.
Keeping you all in our prayers. Sometimes it is hard to understand why your area is overwhelmed (and worse) while other areas are begging for rain (my area). The Farmers Almanac this year says if we do not get any rain from these hurricanes we will mot see any significant rain until possibly April. That does not bode well for fire danger. Anyway, stay safe and if you need somewhere to evacuate to, we have room. Hugs. Nan
Oh thank you for the offer. I would probably accept but hubby doesn’t want to leave. After this one, he may change his mind. Our daughter called at 11:30 last night. She made it to their camp. She said it rained the whole trip. It usually is a 6 hour trip.
Sending prayers for all! I lived in Florida for 35 years so I know your fear. I remember our neighbor, with disabilities, was signed up with the power company to be one of the first power grids to get the power resumed. Keep us informed and stay safe.
Their first house the electric company told her that but when they moved I don’t know if electric company is aware.
My husband says why do they always seem to come at night. Not only do you lose connection from tv or pc but it’s dark & you can’t see what’s happening. Not that you’d have any control anyway, but the darkness just makes it scarier I guess.
Stay safe, hoping minimal damage for everyone and Ashley doesn't lose any power.
Thank you Marian, it’s all in Gods hands. We have no control so hopefully, it’s in His will to protect us. For all the destruction of the last hurricane we still were blessed that no more lives were lost. Seventeen lives were lost, I believe but not to make light of that. Each life is important but it could have been many more, looking at all the debris from all the destruction.
Just saw this. Praying for you and local family and for Ashley and Avery at the camp.
Marsha’s at the camp. Richard is overseas.
Ashley and family still here, as are our son & family and us. Last time our son and family sheltered storm together at Ashley’s house. I’m hoping they will go again. Thanks for prayers, it looks bad.....
It has been a terrible hurricane season for you folks. Rob and I keep our eye on the hurricanes having experienced so many over the years. My heart goes out to you and every other person in the path of yet another one. My prayers are going up for you all and your properties. I know Ashley has very real concerns about the power with Avery's medical needs. Hopefully, the camp is far enough from the cone to be safe from the worst of the wind and the power will not be interrupted. Just keep your eyes on God and trust Him and know that many are praying for you. I sincerely hope all will be fine and you will have no trouble letting us know how you made out.
Thank you Karen, I know you know how destructive and scary hurricanes are. Hopefully it will weaken before coming ashore. It’s still a ways off though and has time to strengthen, but I pray not.
Oh, Toogie, this hurricane season just doesn't want to end! You and your family are in my prayers. I grew up in central Florida and I know the sound and the destruction that comes with hurricanes. It is so scary! Please do let one of our Cuties know how you and your family are doing! Hugs and prayers, Laura
Thanks Laura, I plan on phoning a Cutie if I don’t have any internet service. Hopefully I will have phone service/signal. I will have to conserve my iPhone battery because if we lose power, which they predict we will, my phone doesn’t charge well plugged in the car.
My prayers are with you all. I keep watching the weather and see it is expected to increase in strength...sure hope they are wrong. Stay safe!
I sure hope so too, not only for us but those south of us. They are still trying to recover from Laura.😩Our nephew hasn’t had his power restored very long and now will be hit again. Lines that have been restored may be down again. It’s devastating.
Hoping all goes well for all... Is there no place Ashley can go with Avery to avoid the possibility of no power....
Last time we had power after 19 hours. but Ashley didn't, so they all came here. The thing is, it took 3 hours to make it to us instead of the 10 or 15 minutes, because of trees down across the roads. It's the time without that I am concerned about, hopefully she will be okay through it all. If you can look at the projected path, it's coming right through our state.
Oh Toogie. I understand why you are worried. This is so difficult when equipment that is needed depends on electricity. Nowadays there is no guarantee. Here the big electric company shuts down electricity when it is hot and windy. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Please come as soon as you can and post so we will know you are OK.
I plan to let you all know IF I have service on my phone and can get a signal. If I can't get internet, I will call you, Jerrilyn or Mrs Lillian. I will let someone know, if at all possible.
I told Caroline I got scared a couple of time through Laura. I kept hearing this loud noise/roar. They say a tornado sounds like a freight train coming. My husband told me it was the winds high in the trees, whipping the tree tops. We found out at daylight it was tornadoes close. one came through between my house and Ashley's, taking out a lot of woods.
The other sound that scared me was my bedroom wall. It sounded like it was cracking or popping. I was from the living room to the bedroom all night, no sleep for me or DH. Hubby kept the TV tuned to the live weather until the satellite went out. When you really need to know what's happening you are completely cut off.
Toogie thinking of all your family. I just hope that your all safe.
