What I didn't need right now is that my credit card number has been stolen. My credit union called me in the evening to tell me that my credit card was being "pinged." They explained that sometimes they use the card but not charge anything on it a few times. That's how the credit union knew that I wasn't using it. As a result, I have to wait until they send me a new credit card and it should arrive around Thursday next week. I did learn that Amazon has better security.

While this is not the end of the world, it sure puts a dent on Christmas shopping online! This is the third time it has been stolen this year! Have no clue why. Maybe it is one of the stores that I buy from don't have good security. Guess I'll have to shop the old fashion way...with cash and shopping locally. I actully do shop a lot in the local stores, but I can't always find what I looking for.

Just thought everyone needs a reminder to check their online purchases frequently!

I'm sorry you have to go through this. It is so sad that we cannot trust people. Thank you for the reminder to be safe and careful with our cards.

What a pain and it's so scary! My hubby went through this too many times a few years ago. Rescuer has great advice. Your bank can help you figure out ways to help protect your money and card.

I also use only PayPal. If the company does not accept Paypal I will not purchase from them with the exception of Amazon. PayPal had a bad wrap for a while. Reason being scammers would pretend they are from PayPal pretending somethings was wrong with a transaction. People would fall for it and answer all the questions and were consequently hacked. I noticed in my yahoo e-mail I get a lot from "supposedly" banks telling me that my account is in jeopardy. Ha, ha some of them I do not even have an account. Scammers fishing to see if you respond.

Never, never give out financial information when asked in an e-mail. You can always go to the company directly to find out

i know the feeling only too well. I had my card stolen a couple years ago. Last March I had over $1000 charged to my card. Thankfully it was out of the ordinary for me and my credit card company called and asked if the charge was mine. It was not so they declined the charge and overnighted me a new card. Two weeks ago I had a $94 charge on my card that I am disputing now. It was an online purchase that did not use my home address or email address as contact. I am losing faith in people as so many now have the entitlement feeling that they should have access to things without working and earning them. Rioting, looting, threatening, demanding. I have no respect for this type of action at all. I am so sorry you are going through this. Hugs and Blessings, Barba

I hope you didn't give them any information. It sounds like it could be a bank but they usually contact during regular business hours. Any time you hand a card to someone, they could get the info they need to steal from you. Any time you use it over the phone or online-- with the exception of PayPal and a few others like it, you risk getting you card into stolen. Go to your credit union and request a limited use card. It is like a gift card only better.

That's why I will only use Pay Pal. Are you sure it was your credit card company? Here in Australia we are having a lot of Scammers on the telephone. I would go in person to the bank and speak to someone face to face. In the meantime call your credit card company and alert them yourself that the card may have been hacked. Do not just take the word of a phone call to you.
