Really love this Toogie. It is gorgeous!
I am having a time trying to find a box big enough for it so I can wrap. This will be the youngest daughter’s present this year. Older daughter can’t make up her mind what colors she wants or block she likes. Thanks!
I'm glad to hear that Sheila is improving. That's a long time to need oxygen support, but hopefully she'll be able to fully recover soon.
I can see why Ashley wanted it. It is interesting to see all the colors and how they go so well together! The quilting design will give it a nice texture to it too. If she doesn't want it, you can send it to me!
Toogie, I am a bit slow, but I LOVE it. A real labour of love, great size. I hope once you will keep one for yourself :)
It looks like I may have to keep the blue scallop bordered Double Square ( queen) that didn’t interest my daughters. Keep it or give it to one one the grandsons wives.
I like this one but now they are made I really like the Double Slice with the yellow backing best. I’m glad you like it, thanks.
Love the quilt and your colors! I am trying to finish up longarming the last of the customer quilts and I still have 5 tshirt (memory) quilts to make yet. I want to make something for myself, like a runner, when I am done with everyone else's stuff......I just remembered that I also have some embroidery to do too! ugh LOL I will need to look up this quilt pattern for myself. Great Job Toogie!!!! Tonya
Tonya, I don't like the traditional Drunkards Path design, but I found a quilt I do like, using the ruler. I did not want to pay the $20 the ruler set was, at MCQC, but the other day, when MSQC had their daily deal, they had it in AND a Block magazine (10 patterns in each issue) for $7.49 !!! I just got my ruler in, so next year I want to try using it for the quilt I like. I just saw a picture, the lady said she made up her pattern, but I think I can make it looking at her picture. I hope so anyway! Look up this Mosaic pattern. There are two ways/2 patterns of different ways to cut and assemble. I used the pattern that put it together each row going from one side to the other. The 2nd Mosaic pattern arranges in blocks but you have a seam down the very center of each block when you put the blocks together. This would have been faster/easier but I didn't like the center seam. Just to let you know which one I used. They have lots of free patterns. Most are really busy, because of the small pieces and scrappy but a person could tone a lot of them down, according to their fabric choices. Thanks Tonya-Toogie
Thank you for the info Toogie. I wish that the new patterns coming out would not rely on a "New" ruler. I have so many that need to be used!!! I too would not like the seam down the middle. Have a very Merry Christmas!!!! Tonya
nice job, I have some of the same fabric you used for the backing.
I used every inch of white backing I had. However if she wants shams, I do have enough of the other fabrics. I may just use a plain white on the back unless this is a common stock at MSQC. If so, I’ll order enough if she decides she wants them. I don’t know if she will want 2 King shams or 3 regular. I have seen King beds made up both ways.
Oh Toogie, what a beautiful quilt. It is a work of art, an heirloom. Well done
Thank you Sarah, I can only say it was a monster to quilt. I had the sore shoulder to prove that. Each time I quilt one this size I say NO MORE KING SIZE! I start quilting in the very center and it is hard to move around, back and forth, up and down.
I can see why Ashley wanted it. It is beautiful! And oh my! it had to be hard to manage with that huge size. I hope you are able to manage to make a pretty and bright quilt for you sometime soon. And you are a great mom to make your daughter so happy. Glad to hear Sheila is doing better, but see prayer is still needed.
Thank you K, I didn't really 'need' a quilt so if I never keep one, it is ok. I really am torn to give my Cottage Joy-Double Slice. It looks so good in my queen bedroom. It was probably my most expensive quilt to make and the feel of the fabric is glorious!-lol-It will be for Avery, if I give it to anybody. I just love it, the one with the yellow backing.
I also love scrap quilts, yours is lovely and colourful. Well done,it will be treasured for years.
Thank you bielie, however, the quilt may look scrappy but I used yardages. I would buy colorful yardage I liked and save for a quilt. I mixed them up throughout to make it have a scrappy look, using all the colors in each block.
WOW WOW WOW!!! Toogie you have outdone yourself. I hope Ashley loves it as much as you did making it!! Love Chris
Beautiful job, Toogie...no wonder Ashley wanted it!!
ha ha-To listen to Ashley, she wants them all! Now Marsha on the other hand, can't decide just what she likes. I wanted to gift each of my children and grands a quilt before I expire or can't quilt anymore. I showed her the fabric for the Cottage Joy, wasn't her liking. :( I offered her the blue scallop edge Double Square, both her queen size she needs, no to that one either.
I can't afford to just make them first and then see if she likes, so I told her almost a year ago, to find a pattern she likes and tell me the colors she wants. To this day I am still waiting for her to decide.
So beautiful. Hugs
Thank you Shirley, for both the compliment and the hug. Here's one for you! Hugs-Toogie
Love it. I assume that you decided to use white to quilt
Simply beautiful - the colors are wonderful! Happy your sister is gaining weight. Continued prayers for her healing! Hugs, Laura
Oh dear, I think I said she was gaining strength, not weight!-lol- Thank you Laura, she really needs them, as we all do.
Oh this is beautiful Toogie and it looks like a labour of love. So colourful.
I love color! I wanted this for myself because I love bright colors. I also love old fashion soft colors too. Like I say, I love color. Anyway, thank you and it was a labor to handle one this size.
