So happy something got fixed--only wished I knew which one did the trick. My stitching has been going pretty good, just have to watch my thread going thru all tensions or stopping tight on the take up spring so guess my plastic covers will stay off---for now. It really doesn't matter which brand or spools or colors of thread I use. I have even bought a new spool just to try. So good news for you......some little gremlins what to make us unhappy for a while I guess.
Update. Well after tearing out the design 3 times and doing most of the tips machine is finally doing embroidery great! Happy me! Thank you all for giving me advise. Hugs and flowers for all, Suzanna
It is interesting that the section of white thread only looks fine and the "eye-lashing" kicks in with the coloured threads. The brown looks reasonable also. It could be the type of dark thread and then the size of needle requiring consideration. I would also look at the tension on the bobbin (the very small screw) to loosen off a little. Remember where it was in case you need to put it back. It only takes a tiny adjustment to make a difference.
I used the same type of thread. I see the screw, will adjust if needed. Thanks
After you have tried all the self-help solutions, you may have to take it to the shop to have the pretensioners checked. Mine was not holding. My guy repaired the pretensioner with colored nail polish, but of course, he knew just where to apply it. The reason for the color is that if his repair also failed, he could see where to remove the polish with remover and then re-apply. Crazy as it sounds, he has a long record of decades of happy customers!
I am trying all the hints. My Viking dealer was 10 minutes away but he closed his shop, sad. Now dealer is 1 hour away. Thanks for the infomation.
Have you tried threading with unwaxed dental floss as suggested? Once it is threaded pull the floss through. It will sometimes fix tension or bits of thread issues.
Also, it probably isn't the case here, but other Cuties might have similar trouble. Pulling thread the wrong way will mess up the machine tension and can actually break parts.
I will now forever pull the thread out the right way. I have always pulled back to the thread spool, now I will cut and pull through needle. Also going to use the floss trick. Thank you.
I get that also with my BL Ellisimo Gold occasionally. I have tried all the usual--re-wind bobbin and re-set it in slots, change needle, this looks like top tension needs increasing to me but then I also did that and also got broken and shredded thread, regardless of new needle, new spool of thread and changing which way I feed my thread into the machine. For three months at least I have 3 plastic pieces of my machine unscrewed and off the machine. I have to watch the thread feeding like a hawk because it wants to either jump out of threading guides or stop somewhere at first tension plate or take-up spring for no apparent reason. Trying self diagnosing which I have done with all my machines for years. Husband tore up first spring on plate getting the little tiny e-ring off so told me to order a new one. I even think I could manufacture one myself. I'll watch it like a hawk and at least have all my Christmas presents done that I know I am doing. Good luck with your machine---I know Babylock is no help at all---they want you to take in to store technician which I saw the way one technician in my store handled a hoop problem on one of their floor models---trying to avoid the store!
I am going to clean my Epic 2 again. I am determined and don't want to go to shop 1 hour away. Thank you!
I have an Eoic 2 also and once in awhile mine does this. My solution is :1st-- walk away and calm down!!When you have come back and start over with all the usual-new needle, thread and bobbin and things are better but still seems fussy. Using the same thread in the bobbin as on top helped . I have it on my list of "issues" for its check up. My dealer, too, is an hour away and way backed up in the service area so I know I will have to leave it. Since this model costs almost as much as a new car They should take a lesson from the car dealers and schedule appointments.
If this is on bottom you have no tension on your top thread. Try cleaning your upper tension discs by running unwaxed dental floss through them. It looks like you have a piece of thread or fuzz hiding in your upper tension. With pressure foot down pull on top thread to see if you have any resistance after cleaning your tension discs. This will let you know if you got the problem out. You may have to do this several times. If this does not work you could try blowing out your upper tension discs. I actually had to take the front off my machine and there was a piece of thread wrapped around my disc that I had to remove with tweezers. Best of luck. Hugs and Blessings, Barba
I also tried the unwaxed floss, also tried a bit of silicone like Sewer's Aid on a piece of crochet thread--my husband blew the machine out but it is so clean--no threads caught anywhere but the thread wants to 'hop' out of a couple tensions or it stops the thread dead in the take up spring, thus shredding and have had needle breaks. I also use a jeweler's ream where the needle hits the throat plate- Upon dragonflyer's suggestion a while back I even tried the second bobbin shuttle that came with my machine. I fiddle and faddle with the thread and how they are wound and fed through the machine as I have 3 plastic parts off so I can see real good what is going on.
Eyelashing is almost always caused by a tension problem. Have you adjusted the tension on the machine?
I would also try a different bobbin...
Cute name, eyelashing, but it fits! I am working on cleaning the tension and change to new bobbin. Thank you!
It looks like a tension problem.
I think so too. Always wise to rethread your machine and check your bobbin if something like this happens.
I have rethread several times, cleaned the bobbin area, new needle, checked the tension area for threads. I am going to do another design on this machine to see if the same problem happens. Thanks for your comments
