Hello Cuties, another QOV quilt top and pillowcase made! I went ahead and started #5 while waiting on my fabrics to finish #2 and #3. Another member picked my fabrics up for me, when she went to collect hers.

When we met, I felt like a secret agent or something. I pulled up in the parking lot of the KC Hall right beside her vehicle. I popped my trunk, she jumped out & put the bag in, we waved and were gone! Didn't have to wear a mask as I never left my car or opened a window. The times we are living in....
This quilt top is called Quatrefoil. I had put this one off until last, as it had a lot of pieces to a block. The reason it went so fast is because I enlisted my hubby to help.
I worry about him because although I stay busy, he just sits and watches re-runs of Gunsmoke, Andy Griffith, or game shows. I would be down, depressed, if I just sat. I have been walking down our road, when it's sun shiny and not too cold. I try to get him out and walk with me but no. So I got him in my sewing room to just put my pieces right sides together. It sure helps when you had 80 2 patches of red/tan to go with 80 of blue tan to make 4 patches or 80 quatrefoil squares to snowball. We got it done in 3 days! I think that is amazing, if I have to say so myself, because I had planned for a week. He sure was good help and got him out of that chair. Also, he was ready for the next thing, before I could get them all sewed for the next step!-lol-Hope you like it our top!
As always Cuties I wish you all good health. Remember those who are sick, positive or taking the vaccine. Rember Sandy (Cutie) and her husband. I hope she gives us updates. Love to all-Toogie

Simply beautiful! And interesting! How neat you included your hubby. Mine is just starting his 3rd week of retirement. He doesn't have his own hobby, so I haven't done much sewing . I never thought of including him!

Thanks Jan, you will have a lot of changes in your life not only because of Covid, but retirement. I liked being by myself and doing what I wanted during the day after my school bus route. It sure took some getting used to because he wanted cooked lunch and I could have ate anything. A sandwich, crackers & cheese, anything but cook! Seems like they always hungry-lol-if I hadn’t broken my leg, I might have worked longer because I liked my job, loved the kids and I saw other people. Good luck with your adjustment to change.

Could you send me some of your energy? I had to smile picturing you and your husband working together.

Someone once said if you can work together and survive building a house, you have a good marriage. We work good together. I never got my garage because I quit on him. I told him he could get the men in his family over so it's years later and no garage. I can't even get him to build me a peg board to hang my rulers...

The phone is easy once you know how and you can resize easier on it too. Ask me in pm in you stumble and MAYBE I can help you. I have an IPhone, but I don't know if its the same as yours. Would love to see what you're working on.

You are amazing! I wish I lived near you (and no pandemic of course). You could teach me so much about sewing quilts. I have only done 2 so far and one was for a baby - lol! This is awesome!! Such a good idea getting your hubby to help - he will feel like he made this quilt too! Great team work, hugs, Laura

Laura, we do a lot together. We built our house together. I am always thinking how I’m gonna spend my day and I worry about him. He doesn’t feel good sometimes ( like now) and so I told him it’s bc he sits too much. You gotta move. Said don’t feel like it so what do you do. I really don’t think he’s depressed, never been lazy, but I need to light a fire under him. I told him he’s gonna get just like his brother Dean and CAN’t move.
Thanks about the quilt. Living close to you would be great! I don’t know about teaching you , I’m sure you are great by yourself but it’s always nice to have someone to quilt with.

Talk of smoking sewing machine , at one time I worked for a company that did upholstery, the welt we ran we would do maybe 50 to a hundred yds without stopping the machine these are high speed machines I've see the needle smoke, so keep putting the petal to the metal you guilt looks great.

Thanks about the quilt and pillowcase. I used to work assembly line at a sewing factory and wish I had one of those commercial machines. They might sound like Harley motorcycles but you could really sew fast! Mine won’t go fast enough😂

Wow! Toogie, you never cease to amaze me with your output of these quilts. I am so glad to see that your husband is helping you though, as it's the cutting out that takes so much time

Do you use rotary cutters and do you strip sew the checked sections? I love your pillow case too it looks so patriotic.

Well done to the both of you, Love Chris

I strip sewed the wof blue & off white and strips of red/off white and then cut to have my 2 sqs to make 4p. I assembly line everything. I see red cornerstone to sash, snowball block on all blue squares, one corner then snowball all on opposite comet, etc
I am enjoying your pictures. It’s good to get away, not used to having so many in your house right now. I know you’re enjoying them though. Has the new build started yet?

Oh yes, I use my Olfa rotary cutter and mats.

Hi Toogie, no the kids house hasn't started yet. They should be starting at the end of January beginning of February. Our tradesmen/women basically have January off and once it's over then they all go back to work.
Our schools go back on the last Friday of January, but I don't think many parents will send their kids to school for only 1 day.
I can't wait to see the house started. It's a gorgeous 2 storied home and they are reusing all the old wood from the original miner's cottage for the flooring on the ground floor. It's going to be gorgeous. Love Chris

Agent Toogie strikes again. Toogie I have howled with laughter reading about your hand over of quilt bits. Bit like me handing over the Christmas presents I had made for my friend. This quilt looks great and I admire your dedication to quiltmaking. Also well done on getting help from your husband.

Thanks and like I said even though it’s winter I keep busy but worry for him. I don’t think he is depressed but I know this isolating is helping to keep us alive but not a mentally healthy way to have to live.

Another beautiful quilt for someone who will appreciate. Love your secret agent moves. hehe And good for you to involve your hubby. Gee, maybe he can help putting pieces together so you can put petal to the metal with these quilt tops.
