One more that I have not tried and i would need courage for are the rope baskets. Kim did them and they are fantastic
What is the trick to stitching on card stock? Do you hoop it in some way???
I use what is used for lamp shades (hand made paper) I use the "fix" stitch on machine to stitch paper to stabilizer-depending on density of design I am use cut away or tear away
I love FSL. Sue Box has the most beautiful FSL and it sews out perfectly. Tried most things but not balsa not sure why may be one of these days.
Our embroidery machines have not only given us hours of pleasure also they have opened up the world to new friends far and wide.
I think I have done just about every type of machine embroidery including balsa wood which is great for making Christmas decorations. The only downside is that it need very careful handling because the balsa wood breaks very easily.
My list includes balsa wood and the CD designs and ITH zippered items. I have the designs but just haven't used them. Silly me.
Snap tabs! I want to do some, and have the snaps, but don't have the confidence to try.
Interesting as that’s something I havnt tried either but only because I have been busy with other embroidery projects
I probably just need to watch a video! And then I can practice on some scraps...
Guess I did them in this order: simple embroidery, applique, reverse applique, puffy foam applique, stitching on towels, sweatshirts and t shirts, FSL (lace), metallic threads, zippy bags. Still have not done paper or balsa. Just haven't felt the need. The one I had the most trepidation was FSL, which I think the solution on that is simply finding a good lace digitizer. Highly recommend Martha Pullen, Anita Goodesign, tavernmaker, but lots of "amateur" digitizers, the lace falls apart when you are finished. I may have a few laces from Cute, but haven't stitched any out. Bought my membership here for the great embroidered designs for kids, and they are beautiful to watch stitch out.
A great list of how your embroidery career has sewn out. I agree with fsl and quality digitisers. Fsl isn’t at the top of my emb list as been busy with other projects. You remind me it’s ages since I did something zipped so must do some or even one soon.
Stitching on Balsa Wood. They say one can do it but I ask myself the question, do I really need to. I remember when Sue created a file to be able to cover a old CD as a ITH project. I was so scared watching and ready to stop the machine any time. It worked out fine and now I want to make more.
Ah Sue and her balsa wood... something on my list which will happen one day...
I made a TON of Sue's CD Recycler designs - including for my Christmas card one year - have not done the balsa wood though.
