Post us a picture sometime of your livestock. I can see a guy called Alvin everyday checking his herd of cows, from my sewing room window. Sometimes he comes twice a day, morning and late evening. He has a lot of new calves right now. My husband heard a pack of coyotes the other night and one of the cows lowing and lowing the next day.He thought maybe the coyotes got her calf, but we're not sure. Hope not. We don't get snow or I should say it is a rare occurrence.
We have some coyotes in the area and they have been known to take the small calves. Praying that is not what has happened. We feed our heifers and calves twice a day too. We have over 16 inches of snow from Sunday-Tuesdays adventures in weather!!! I had to move another inch from the driveway this a.m. before the grands came. Hubby finally went to work but when he is here he uses the tractor and lucky me gets to shovel. I will try and find a few pictures
I'd love to see a picture. I absolutely love watching This Farming Life on Britbox! Have you seen it? Lots of sheep, cattle, water buffalo and more! It is the most stress-free thing in the world!
Very cold here in western Michigan. Bundle up good to take care of the animals! Hugs to you, Laura
I saw you are very cold!!! Stay warm and safe. I did bundle up to feed tonight and will have to for a while the way it looks. Take care, Tonya
I take the corgis sheep herding. We had a baby born yesterday. It was so cold and could hardly stand up. We put a lamb sweater on it and it and mom went home to stay with someone who cares for the little ones...heat lamp and straw. I once saw on tv how the ladies in Wales...or someplace that had a lot of sheep...and they knit sweaters for the lambs in the herd! People are so caring.
We have what we call "calf coats" on our young calves in the hutches. We just have to make sure that we have everyone bedded well when it's this cold.
Sounds interesting sheep herding. You need to post a pic sometime!
Be happy that you are somewhere that you can have live critters. SEW much better than being on the 34th floor of some skyscraper somewhere in the middle of some huge city. Stay safe. No I don't live in a city, either.
GOD bless you and your critters and stay warm.
I am an Air Force brat and we traveled to quite a few places and lived in base housing that were attached to each other. The walls were paper thin. I couldn't live in the big city, I love my privacy too much! lol
