Brilliant work Barb. We use metal straws in our household and have for over 2 years. Your friend will love it. Well done, love Chris
Thanks Chris.
I am not sure what size her straws are these are mine. I know she bought a lot from the Post Office. You can also get them fatter for drinking thick shakes.
I can take off from the sides if necessary as I used plastic zips so can sew over them to shorten.
WOW, Great job, and congratulations on creating as you go. That is always an adventure. Thank you for sharing details below.
This is a great idea. I keep two ziplocks in my purse for my clean and used straws! Well done!
Interesting idea... Is this two bags or one with the zipper down the center? If one, how did you section the inside for each half?
One bag with 2 pockets.
Made it up as I went along. Cut large front piece about 8 inches by 12 inches the another piece about 4 inches by 12 inches. The smaller piece I put the zip on the top then flipped it and stitched the top of zip to the larger piece. Taped it down on the right side and then just made the zipper pouch as normal and the small front was caught up in the seams. The embroidery I did first before anything else. Hope this makes sense. I really had no idea how I was going to achieve what she asked for but it just came together as I went along. I can make it smaller if needed by taking the sides in.
I think it'd would be very functional. Kreative Kiwi has a holder for just one straw, but I don't think it would hold the straw clearner with it like yours does. I'm not sure of the dimenisions of this and if it'll fit in her purse. I haven't seen a straw with a curve in it before, but it is probably a good idea.
I will go and check out Kreative Kiwi. The straw with a bend is like the ones you use for people lying down.
