Hope you are feeling better Laura. There is still no sign of even our first jab here in SA.
Feeling fine, Sarah, thanks! It was a quick 2 days of being a little uncomfortable but my hubby and I felt blessed to have had our shots! I hope yours arrive soon. Hugs to you, Laura
Yesterday 2nd shot of Pfizer. Feeling just like any other day. Yeah pretty soon being able to hug the great-grands.
That is great you didn't have any side effects!! My father-in-law didn't with his Pfizer 2nd shot either! Soon to hugs our grands will be wonderful!
Shot 2 today!
Good for you! If you have any side effects - they only last a day or two! Hugs!
So sorry to hear you had some side effects, but it's better than the alternative, isn't it Laura?
My local Doctor's surgery rang me on Monday to ask if Mum wanted a vaccine and I told them yes, she's hanging out for it. NSW has received the AstraZeneca vaccine and it's currently being sent around the state. I'm not eligible for the first couple of rounds as I'm not 70, but Trevor can get his, he is in Phase 1B! I'll be patient and wait for mine when it comes. I'm in Phase 2A . Our surgery has it under control.
I hope you continue to get "betterer" and "betterer" (he he he) Love Chris
Absolutely, Chris, we have looked forward to getting our vaccine regardless of side affects. Your Mom should do just fine as well as your husband! Are you still on vacation - enjoy!! Hugs!!
Congratulations that you have had your second jab but sorry to hear that you had after effects. My older daughter had her second jab Pfizer- a week ago and wasnt well at all the next day but is fine now. Not sure when my second jab is as I haven't been given a date. Yes it is very sad that so many have lost their lives over the past year with Covid.
I just feel so fortunate that we have had our shots. Good luck with your last!
Laura, I know I already commented but I just found out my cousin Lora Mae and her husband Johnny died on the same day, just hours apart, in the hospital with Covid. They were such a sweet couple, loved fishing together, the outdoors, she loved quilting and both were still very active in church. She and her sister both had such loving souls.
I edited to add the picture of my other cousin Elton that passed away from Covid earlier this year. Angie this is me, Elton and his wife Margaret. She is from Germany. He married her years & years ago as he was a career serviceman. I love the accent.
Toogie I love this picture and there was no need to tell me which one is you. No mistaking your smile.
I am so sorry so many of your relatives were lost to Covid. The only thing that makes the passing of Lora Mae and Johnny easier is the knowledge that they never had to mourn for their partner.
My family that has had their second have not had issues (1 each type). I am two + weeks from my second shot so fingers crossed but will take side effects over COVID.
The side effects are so temporary - nothing to worry about! Hugs to you!!
Ive had both pfizer shots...no side effects from first. On day of 2nd shot I took 2 tylenol upon rising, another 2 before my scheduled noon shot. Didn;t know I had been vaccinated again except arm a little sore next day. I was advised to take the pills to avoid side effects.
We got our second Moderna vaccine Monday too and feeling better today. Hubby ran a good fever Monday night or about 5 am Tuesday, took Tylenol and fever broke. I was chilled until this morning but only ran a slight temp, but I had taken Tylenol before fever got up. Lazy yesterday but both ok today. Seeing my sisters so near death convinced me to take the vaccine.
My temp was slight too. Like you, we decided to just take it easy for two days and we were prepared with some homemade soups. So very pleased to have gotten our vaccination - it would have been terrible if my hubby had caught Covid as I know he would not have been able to fight the disease. Hugs and hope you sister is feeling stronger every day!
These sound very similar to my reactions to the second dose last week but add swollen arm. Thankfully, worse symptoms lasted less than 24 hours. Hubby had mild reactions following his first dose Monday. He believes he may have been exposed to the virus so immunity was kicking in similarly to those receiving the second dose. I will be soooooo happy when everyone can be vaccinated!
Now to go hug my granddaughters (and get my hair cut)!!!
Not just sore, red, and swollen at injection site but swelling of the lymph nodes into the armpit. (The nurse also hit a blood vessel which bled then bruised.)
Aunt Annie you know what my sister, a retired oncology RN told me? She said whoever gives you your shot tell them to be sure and aspirate because those showing on the television are not. If they aspirate they can tell if they are in the wrong spot, vessel, etc. When I told my young nurse, she said she does and would. Her mom was there too, also an older nurse and she said she asked her daughter, the one that gave me my shot, if they were even teaching them in nursing school to do this.
Thank you, Toogie. I have not heard of this before. I have very superficial veins so have had problems with blood draws and IV inserts but not with injections in the arm.
I will be getting my second shot of Pfizer on Friday. I can not wait. Hopefully I will not feel ill after. My dog Coco is not very good in taking care of me.
My father-in-law got the Pfizer and he didn't have any of the reactions that his wife had and she had the Moderna like us. But honestly 2 days of feeling a little uncomfortable is nothing and we just feel fortunate to have the vaccination! I bet Coco would empathize with you thought!!! Hugs!
This what I am hearing.. My daughter and her husband (both in the medical field) had received the Madera vaccine and were not feeling well the day after. What ever......I am just glad I am getting it.
I am happy for you & Hubby!...There is so much controversary about the shots, I scared to get one and scared not to!. Haha...
I understand how you feel. My hubby has a heart condition and breathing problems - we felt it was the best for us to get the shot. Sending you lots of hugs!! Laura
Be more afraid of NOT getting the vaccine, gramsbear. The only controversary is how long people are having to wait in line.
