I have a new sewing machine. I have been sewing for 70+ years, starting on an old Singer treadle, moving up over the years, and now my newest, a Brother Innov-is. Today I broke a needle and for the first time in all those years I had to refer to the operator's manual to figure out how to change it. It's pretty sad when our machines are smarter than we are.

Really smart machines give us time - time to relax, to enjoy, and to create more beautiful textiles. Enjoy and congrats. I bought a self-feeding edger, but it is nearly a year before time to reload more string, and I have to go back and watch the video AND remember the adjustments I made allowing for smaller women's hands and lesser hand strength.

Congratulations on your new machine...I have had my Ellisimo for about 12 years and I still don't know everything that it does!

Ha, ha. I can't tell you how often the machines tells me that ,either she is smarter or wants to remind me about my age. Hitting the needle threader twice is my favorite dumb thing to do.

Yes it is! I so agree with you, and that is why I still have a little flip phone. The smart phones are way too smart for me

I had to upgrade to a smartphone when I switched providers and it does way more than I will ever use it for. I was happy with my flip phone. It didn't make me feel dumb.

I just got a new flip phone. I rarely use my cell phone. I hear better on my land line.
