Toogie, they are all beautiful! Hope they all love what they get. Instead of putting the names in a hat you could put numbers on each gift and let each lady pull a number from the hat. This way they get what they get. If they want to trade later, so be it. I've been at drawings where they drew names and then the person got to choose a gift. This made for hard feelings in the end when there were only a few gifts left. Not much difference, but there seemed to be less problems when it is "black and white." Drawn number 4 gets prize number 4. ☺
That sounds like a good idea. I wondered how you could do it without prejudice. I had thought of Nora holding the gift up we were drawing for, then when the name is drawn that is the gift they get- Thanks for everything.
Oh but I just thought that wouldn’t work. Even though I made 20 gifts I don’t have nearly enough for all the women.
These are fabulous! Have a great time this weekend! I bet if they knew they would get a homemade gift they would of shown up for cleaning detail. Lol! I would of.
My daughter said if they knew, they would try harder to come to the reunion!-lol-We are thinking this may be the last time at the old home, not sure. Some are not wanting to pay to keep the utilities on. You understand how that goes, I'm sure. Anyway, the sister and brothers are all getting older. They are sis 95, bro 93, bro 85, sis 78, sis 76 and my hub 73, this year.
3 girls and 3 guys left. There were 6 of each.
They all are beautiful. You always do such great work. I love the idea for the women that showed up to clean to get one. Great idea. Hoping the family reunion will be a fun day and that the weather will cooperate.
Oh I hope so too! Yes, the gals that worked deserved more than this, because they started at 9 am and left at 9 pm. My son-in-law made and delivered them lunch. I know grilled chicken, a salad and something else. Sweet of him and thoughtful too.
Hubby and I rode to check on them when Grayson called saying Ash wasn't back. No phone signals out there. I was able to get a signal and let him know they were all ok, just worn out and finished.
Toogie,
They all look great! Everyone is going to want to win one in the drawing. Have a great time. Tonya
Thank you Tonya, I'm just anxious to see all the family. I hope some are not disappointed because not all the gifts are as nice as the runners. That's why I want to make sure the 'cleaners' get theirs.
I am sure it will be great to see everyone again!! I know it was so nice to hold onto 2 of our grands and give them squeezes after the year. The other 4 I see and keep so at least they had each other and so did I. Have an awesome time!
Very nice! I am glad you are saving some for the cleanup crew. I would get one because I would be part of the crew. You are the most amazing giver!
Oh I wish and I know Ashley, Vickey and Cindy wish you could have joined the cleaning crew! Ashley is 40 and the cousins are much older. I sure would have made you one too!!! Thanks!
The 5 runners make a stunning display. I think your idea of putting the name of each woman into a container is the way to go. Kudos to the 3 who showed up to clean They deserve a thank you for their hard work, as do you for your many hours working on these gifts. Have a wonderful time talking and hugging and watching the children playing together.
Yes, I feel the same about the cleaning crew. They had a hard job and it is a shame on the younger girls for not pitching in. Maybe, just maybe, they will regret it if they see the runners the crew earned.
I hope the weather is prefect Saturday. I sure will be thankful if it is. We have a big open shed we have the tables of food under and the house to go into in case of rain. Let's pray all is good. I'll try to take pictures but as I get older I forget. I used to be "Mrs.Kodak", always camera in hand.
I'm sure, since it's a family reunion, that your talent and generosity proceed you. Anyone would be lucky to get one of your creations. Each lovely!
I know there are so many but some of them know I sew. However, we've not given 'drawings' before and really don't know how to go about it. Got an idea? I told Ashley we would just put the ladies names in and draw. The kids are playing all over the 120 acres and the men play horseshoes or that other game, I can't think of the name. It's where you toss an object in a hole in a wooden box with 3 holes, I think. Heck, I don't know what it's called. The women are always too tired, or at least the ones who do more than just sit and look pretty-lol- to do anything besides try to cool off.-lol-Thank you and hope you and M, family are well.
Your talent amazes me! They will love their prizes!! Hugs, Laura
Thanks Laura, I don’t have ideas how to give away other than put names in and draw.
They are all very lovely, If they don't want them I take one.
Happy stitching :-)
They are all lovely!
Thanks K, I like the picture of all of them together so maybe I need to make a row quilt with all fabrics alike.
