How awesome to be training the next generation of sewing enthusiast...
Happy birthday to Vivian. What a lucky girl to have her own machine. Yes, I have my grandmothers button box.
Oh, Sarah - how lucky you are to have your grandmother button box. Make certain you pass it on to one of your daughters or maybe Georgie one day! It is a treasure! Thanks bunches, Laura
How wonderful that Vivian now has her own sewing machine! I also have button jars and bins...some of them belonged to some past generations of mine... You should both have so much fun making the pillow cases and a great beginning project for Vivian too!
You have a wonderful legacy - having past generations buttons. I truly wish I had my Moms, I hope to post our pillowcase creations then we get them done. Thank you for your kind words! Hugs, Laura
Happy birthday to your granddaughter! She will be so grateful you have given her a gift that will last a lifetime.
Thank you, Suzanna! That is a wonderful thought!! I appreciate it! Hugs, Laura
That's lovely Laura, I've got a sewing machine set aside for Ophelie too. I just hope she will continue to do sewing as she grows older.
I've got a beautiful old fashioned candy tin box full of buttons, I've got a a love of "old things"! even Trevor, he he he!!! Love Chris
My daughter, Katie told me this morning that Vivian told her before she fell asleep - "Mom, I got my very own sewing machine!". That made me feel so good. I was afraid there was some game or toy she didn't get and would be disappointed! Vivian always enjoys looking through my button box. Hugs to you! Laura
Lucky girl. She will love using her machine. I have a button jar. Have had it for years. Hugs
Thank you - Shirley - she lit right up when she saw her sewing machine! She loves my button box - I knew she would like having one of her own! Hugs, Laura
That is a wonderful idea and the memories she will have.
She is a sweetheart and I know what our time together means to her and me - I love that she wants to sew! Thank you and hugs, Laura
Lovely idea of the sewing machine and also the button tin. I started with a jar but now it is a box full of buttons. Can never have too many bits and pieces just in case. If you are able to go out to the shops maybe a trip to some charity shops so she can hunt around and maybe find some sewing treasures herself and also learn the art of making something from an item no longer wanted.
Barbara, what a good idea to take her shopping at a second hand store - I should do that! Hugs, Laura
Lucky day for Vivian. Congrats on the new machine and many happy hours of sewing ahead. Yes, I have button jars and cards and cans... Have a great collection of shell buttons to put onto clothes I buy second hand!
Thank you, Betsey!! Great idea to add new buttons on clothes!! Hugs to you, Laura
Happy birthday Vivian! What a wonderful grandmother you are. I think it is wonderful that she is already so crafty. I also have a pretty decorative tin I use to hold many of my buttons. I think it's a great way to keep my buttons. Enjoy celebrating.
Thank you, Karen - She had me to tears - she was so happy with her sewing machine!! We will work on our pillow cases this week - can't wait!!! Thank you again! Hugs, Laura
Old fashioned? I don’t know but I have some tins with buttons. So glad to hear this . Nora is 8 now and I bought her a brother sewing machine several years ago. Her mom doesn’t sew and with Covid so prevalent I can’t teach her. Love that you did this and that she is interested.
Oh, Toogie, I am so glad you have done the same! I thought I would start her off straight sewing with a pillow case. She will make one for her 5 year old cousin Henry and I'll be stitching one for her. I also want her to enjoy making something for someone else. Hugs, Laura
