Toogie this is a beautiful quilt but you like I would have to redo those bindings. My hubby like yours would have said to leave it as well. Sorry to hear of the loss of your friends. I hope your family recover soon. My eldest granddaughter the the symptoms but thank goodness her tests were negative. I have my hubby in hospital (hopefully coming home today) He has been there for a week. has had gall stones. We have no Covid here but still have to wear masks when visiting. Like you I do not go out if I have no need to. Sending prayers and hugs.
Thank you Shirley and I know you’ll be glad to have your hubby back. Can you see any difference? I tried again
with the binding.
Toogie, any quilt you make is made from your heart! I think it is beautiful. The binding looks like it has loft like binky. I like the design too. My heart goes out to you, your friends and family. I too have been back to staying home most of the time. I mask up when out. I hope things get better all over the world. Sending prayers and hugs, Suzanna
The quilt fabric for both front and back, along with the binding, is 100 % quilting cotton but I did use a High Loft batting. Thank you, I appreciate your comments.
Toogie, it is probably the last time the quilt will lay flat as a 2 dimensional work of art. Quilts are 3 dimensional, as they are usually draped over and around bodies. It's a great look.
So sorry the Covid is impacting you so closely. Scary, scary stuff.
Hello my dear Toogie, the quilt is gorgeous. Mason will love it I'm sure. I agree with you though, I wouldn't have been happy with it being wavy. Did you wash and iron it first? Sometimes the waves press out.
I am so sorry to read of all your friends and family who have died and are still going through this dreadful disease. I will keep you in my prayers.
We are in lock down here in Newcastle and some townships further north, all due to one selfish man who decided to drive from Sydney to Byron Bay whilst infectious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can go to the shops, which are only 300 metres away to do our grocery shopping etc. and I of course can visit Mum every day as I'm her carer. Keep positive my friend we are all going to have to get used to wearing masks for a long, long, time. Love Chris
First off, the quilt is not for Mason. I had to go back and re-read my post because I thought what did I type that was so misleading. Anyway, it will be for a little girl.
People are selfish, that’s how Dalton brought it home to Emily. A man he works with was positive but because his symptoms were mild he still went out. No telling how many more were exposed and since the virus is so unpredictable as to who will have mild sinus and who will be life threatening people need to stay home and quarantine. Not stay home and have people over.
I don’t mind a mask because I only go out for a short while to buy groceries every 4-6 weeks and we will go early before it’s too hot.At least that’s what we did for a year. We are starting all over again here so haven’t been out in about 3 weeks now.
Take care and yes we need prayers.
Oh Toogie, I'm so sorry both for the quilt issues and for all of the horrendous sadness and fear you are experiencing right now. I too am staying close to home for the most part. But because I still tire rapidly more than anything. You know my hubby and i will be praying for you and your loved ones. And as for the quilt, I think it is going to be loved and treasured and give many hours of warmth, security and pleasure for its recipient.
I am redoing it, so IF it comes out any better I will post.
Thank you for the prayers. My heart aches for my friend Carol. Her hubby Gary is in ICU with Covid and one collapsed lung and her daughter that is almost 40 is in a different hospital ICU on the ventilator. I haven’t been able to talk to Carol in a few days because I cry, so I just text.
I just ripped the binging all off. Now try to remedy.
This made me laugh. I hope that the "binging" is not giving you too much trouble. I actually said this before but I must have not submitted my comment. I seem to do that often lately
Toogie your too hard on yourself. This is a beautiful quilt
Sorry I was called away before I had commented on the loss I of your friends. Very Very sad. Positive thoughts for you and those in ICU.
This is a very interesting quilt. Sort of a "seek and find" spelling quilt. I'm sure it will be well loved and treasured.
I never fret about waves or other quilting mishaps. If someone wants a perfect quilt, they can go and buy one. I do believe that there is a practice where one makes a mistake in the quilt on purpose to honor the perfect being, God. On the other hand, I do think we strive to make things perfect just for the joy of it. Mason will treasure it!
I am working on it again. Interesting quilt because I pieced as I went. Wanted churn dash blocks because of the farm animals. Then I didn’t want it square so figured out a top and bottom border. I think my CD blocks are 8 1/2 inch.
This is not for Mason. I am sorry you got that idea. Mason is 17 and this is for a little girl with the pink. Thanks
The design of your quilt is exceptional - just stunning! And, your hubby is right - once it gets on a bed - no one will notice the edges!! Stay safe Toogie - you're not the only one keeping close to home. This strain of Covid is horrid. I am sorry for the loss of your friends. Had they been vaccinated? I will include your friends in my prayers! Take care my friend, Hugs, Laura
I know Carol’s husband and Lindsay wasn’t vaccinated. Gary got it from his brother and brought it home. Carol got Covid too but she had been vaccinated so her symptoms were not bad. I can’t ask her right now WHY Gary wasn’t vaccinated because I know she’s regretting he didn’t.
I don’t know about the 3 men that died, my hubby says probably not, but we are not sure.
Bless their hearts - I am so sorry for the loss of your friends and pray that the other three rally and heal quickly. So very sad!
