These are gorgeous. I have searched without success for these sets on Sweetpea. I am looking at the bottom picture. Can you tell me the name of the set for the bottom corner blocks? And the second from the left on the bottom row?
Hi Teresa, I see from my previous post that you have found them. The corner blocks are from the Bloom Delight set, and the rest of them are all the designs from the Moroccan Quilt tile set. I'm repeating the Moroccan quilt tile for the whole quilt and yesterday I have added another Blue Delft Tile design. I'll post a picture of it in a minute. Love Chris
This is going to be beautiful Chris! Love the colours.
Beautiful work Chris. Are you in compete lockdown? Although I realise that you are visiting your mum daily. I am so pleased that you have your quilt to keep your mind on track. Stay safe - thinking of you.
Hi Sarah, yes, we are only allowed to go to the supermarket (which for me is just down our Road about 300 metres. As Mum's carer I can visit her every day, which is always around 2-3 hours! I'm sewing these squares when I come home! All schools are shut except for children of essential workers. Our elder daughter Dana only has to go to school once a fortnight as they have so many staff. We are all coping, it's just squeezy!
Spring starts here tomorrow and the weather has been gorgeous! Love Chris
What a sumptuous quilt this will be! Your artistic skills far surpass mine, and I'm glad that you take the time to share your work with us. You inspire me to expand my skills! I look forward to seeing the finished quilt.
Thanks so much Penny, I'm just the sewer, it's the digitiser that is so good! I'm glad I've inspired you to try something else. Love Chris
Wow. This is Beautiful. I am already anxious to see it finished.
Hi Pam, ha ha ha, me too! I've done four corner pieces from another of Sweetpeas designs to use as the corners. I'm on my laptop at the moment, so I'll go back to my phone and post them from it. Love Chris
Chris, this sure is amazing with beautiful color that make it so striking. Here I was just telling Noah I couldn't see your pics. I can't see many folks pics it just say image no matter what I do and then low and behold today yours are showing up in detail. So love seeing it. I will be beautiful when completed--it is beautiful in each block. You and your family are lifted up in prayer by me also. So sad for all our loved ones who are touched by dreadful illnesses. Stressful is the task but not bad when all your love pours out. I am thankful for every day and miss my mom and dad terribly even after the years. Praying for Peace, Love, Understanding and Joy as well as much more. Peafarm
Hi Patti, thanks so much for those kind words. I've done 12 squares to date, and am trying for at least 1 or 2 per day. Some days i just get one done. I can't wait to finish these squares, but they are fiddly as all are applique!!
We are in lock down till the end of October, so Trevor cancelled our planned trip back to Adelaide (our home town) and Melbourne - this had already been postponed from last year, so we have lots of credits on air flights and hotel accommodation. Times certainly are weird! Thanks for the prayers for our families too, I really appreciate them. Love Chris
What a Stunning Quilt in Progress..Can`t wait for end result..Going to look Beautiful!!!
Your 2019 quilt is blue ribbon for sure! The one you are working on now will also qualify for blue ribbon! I too have been busy with my sister. She is showing signs of dementia and tomorrow she will be tested at Neuropsychologist, 3 hour testing then again next week for 3 hours. I am doing everthing I can to help her. It's is tough but I just want my sister back. Sending love and hugs to you and your family. Suzanna
Hi Suzanna, thanks so much for commenting on my quilt squares. My heart aches for you and your sister. It's a long road that lays ahead. I pray that you can cope with what is coming. Love Chris
Just lovely, each square adds to the effect, When in lock down suche a blessing to have something like this to work on help to keep our mind off of troubles and our hand busy, an old adges, "Hand to work, Hearts to God." the shakers said this.
Hi Jenne, yes, I'm so grateful that I can do these, even though I've got to choose my times, so as not to disturb the girls too much while they are home schooling. Love that saying, I agree wholeheartedly with it. Love Chris
I'm so sorry to hear you are still in lockdown. But what a wonderful project to be producing during the lonely and difficult weeks. It is going to be a stunning addition to your room when finished. We know also how difficult it has been to care for a loved one and the frustrations and fears that go with it. I'm so grateful you are there for your Mum during these difficult times.
Thanks dear Karen for your kind words. Yes, it's going to be a lovely addition, can't wait to continue these squares.
With regard to Mum, that's an ongoing issue and I will just have to cope with it. I'm doing my best. Love Chris
Wow, Chris, this will be another stunner! Are you adding the back fabric to each square as you go or will you add one large piece of fabric to the back?
Hi Kim, no I add one large backing piece once I've sewn them all together. Thanks for commenting, love Chris
Wow! This will be a stunning quilt! Lemon and white are a great foil for blue. Looking forward to following this project.
Sending sincere wishes for you and your Mum. It is such a very sad time and yes, our Care people and services are over stressed right now. Kindest regards, Bev
Hi Bev, yes, it's so frustrating, not only for us who are caring for our elderly, but it must be doubly distressing for the "paid carers" from the Aged Care Health Organisations. You are right they are over stressed. Love Chris
Oh, Chris, this is going to be so beautiful when multiplied by many more squares! Thanks for the update on your mom. I like this idea of the Aged Care Assessment Team. As far as I know, there is nothing like this here other than the occasional lone hospital social worker. We three were on our own with my parents and nearly all of it fell on my sister and brother who were local. When my mother in law was in dying shape for 18 months, that fell squarely on our shoulders. She was mostly gracious, except when she was demanding. I hope you don't know what I mean! Know that you and your mom and of course your Jules remain in my prayers for daily joys and comforts.
Oh! thanks so much Betsey, how lovely of you to keep us all in your prayers. I've been sitting here since I got home from Mum's writing out the "Prayers of the People" for our Zoom Church service on Sunday (It's my turn on the prayer roster) and just praising God that we live in such a free country, when there is so much turmoil around the globe. I know we are in lock down here in Newcastle, but it won't be forever and I have faith that we will get through this. Love Chris
Chris, This is absolutely wonderful!! I love the blocks you have done so far, especially the block that resembles a Cathedral Window. Can't wait to see it finished. Prayers for all. Tonya
Thanks so much Tonya, I hope to get some more done over the next couple of days. Love Chris
This is going to be lovely!!A great lockdown project. I've done a few Sweet Pea table runners but you have inspired me to start thinking about a full quilt, Thanks for sharing and will look forward to seeing your progress.
Thanks so much, I am glad to have inspired you. It's just such a long process, especially with so many stitches in these designs. Love Chris
Chris this is beautiful and I love your work. Sitting infront of our machines watching them stitching and all the worries of life vanish on a temporary basis. Then we have something wonderful to look at when its all completed. A future heirloom
You read my mind Caroline, I love watching them sew out too. I've decided to add another sequence of different SP designs to be the centre, just need to get the other 3 done to match up sometime today and tomorrow. Love Chris
I love blues too with white and yellow - sounds perfect to me!! Are you connecting these in the hoop? The quilt you had before was simply lovely too! That is a bunch of 7x7 squares - but, looks like you have a wonderful start to it! Your daughter's house must be coming right along!! Hugs, Laura
Hi Laura, yes, it reminds me of the sea and sky. No, I don't connect these in the hoop, I sew them up individually. I think I might need 100, upon trying them out on the bed this morning, I'll see!
Yes, Amy's place is coming along beautifully, should be ready by October, we hope!! he he he! Love Chris
This one is the first quilt I made back in July 2019. As you can see I love blues, in all shades! Love Chris
I remember you working on this and showing us squares as they were completed
Hi Caroline, Yes, this one was a labour of love and I think my new one is going to be similar!!!!!!!!!
Love Chris
