My heart goes out to you both. Growing older is not an easy journey for many and I know from past experience how very difficult it is treat and repair ulcers on the shins. I will prayer for our Lord gives to give you some rest from the burden of your worries and fears for your husband.
God Bless Lynne in OZ
Thank you for all your kind support!
I was thinking about getting some shin guards...like they use in sports like soccer...to wear, but he says he won't wear them, so I didn't bother. Cellulitis is mostly on the legs and arm. He gained 19lbs in water and legs are swollen and looks like elephant legs! His doctor put him on some pills to get rid of the water. However, I have to get up at 3am to give him the pills. The good part is that the pills are getting rid of the water so he can walk better and not in so much pain. He gets them at 3 AM! I fall right back to sleep again which makes me happy.
He wants to pass and I sure understand why. Some things you just have to live through. I just do my best to keep him comfortable.
His legs/feet are so swollen that he can't get his shoes on. I got a wheel chair that fits in the trunk so he doesn't have to go outside in his socks. His arm is swollen too. Today, the pills seem to be draining all that extra fluid out of his body so he is more comfortable and not in so much pain. I also got a caregiver to come to the house on the day that I have doc appts., take the dogs sheep herding (they'll be happy to see the sheep again (but the sheep may not be so happy), shopping, etc.
At least now things seem to be under control, and he seems happier and I'm not so tired.
Bless your heart. It's not easy watching our love ones decline. I hope you get the rest you need and all the support, too.
My thoughts are with you. I have a dear friend, who also suffers terribly from torn skin on her shins. It has got to the state that she will not visit me in my home as she is terrified that my dog will bump her shins.
Praying for you and your husband and thankful he is getting the help he needs.
Praise the Lord he is home and being cared for!! What a blessing....
I am so glad that you are home and can have some comfort and peace. Some help at home is a wonderful blessing. I know you will take good care of him and remember to take care of you too. God Bless.
I'm so glad you are getting some medical help for your handsome hubby. You are a wonderful wife and example to us all. I hope your experience with the folks coming to the house is as wonderful as mine with the nurses and physical therapists who cared for me at home for 4 months after I came home from the hospital.
That's so encouraging Penny that you can get some home care help for dressing his wounds and looking after his IV. I'm keeping you and your husband in my prayers and hope that you are looking after yourself too. Love Chris
Sending hugs and prayers. I had my hubby in hospital for 8 days a couple of weeks ago. It is stressful. Hugs
I hope things settle down for you a bit...glad you did get some sleep last night and hopefully that will continue. Good that you have home care daily to assist...glad you were able to pop in with the update...
Prayers for you and your dear hubby! I am happy you have some help with his wound care. I hope you have other help such as Meals on Wheels, family members, etc. I also hope you get a chance to take care of yourself too - that is upmost important. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!
