What I need you to explain is, what is unrequired stuff?!!😳😂
I am a hoarder when it comes to my sewing room or sewing gadgets. Anytime someone offers I accept!😄 Just think, if Marge hadn’t ‘made’ me go look in one of the nine boxes Carol brought in to give away, I wouldn’t have my black and white quilt top! Another lady sent me some pliers like I misplaced because she got them in a box of things in a garage sale or auction. She wanted the other stuff in the box so sent me the Dritz eyelet/snap pliers. Win-win The lady that sent the layer cake and yardage (except the red polka dot was mine) that I made the last CASA quilts for just emailed me. She is sending more children fabric that she found in her stash for yet another childs quilt!
So I repeat, what is unrequired stuff?-lol😂🤣
Well Toogie there was a lot of white net, the sort tutus are made from. Is there a use for it with machine embroidery? I had been given a bag full of bits the week before that wasnt exciting so it was rehomed. I loaned and then said she could keep my v
After stitching for the Bachelorette party - my sewing room is a wreck! I'm having to push things to the side to make room to hoop. Well, maybe it isn't quite that bad but it is a mess! The wedding is coming up in November and I still have embroidering to do. Meanwhile, I have also started a set of placemats for my sweet hubby and I. Mess or not - I love my sewing room. It is my happy place! Hugs to all! Laura
I relate to your problem well. To assist with hooping again due to space I have a board that I put on my knees and use it as a mini table. I have been known to go down a floor in the house and use the dining table to hoop. Laura you sound busy with your machine
I can't help but laugh! If we could see each others' rooms we would find we were all the same, I think. And no, I won't give away any more fabric. I've given away more than enough by now. hehe
It's encouraging to know I am not the only one who's sewing room is the most messy room in the house.
Yes its most heartening. My sewing room door remains firmly shut and the odd times my husband comes in there is a comment on the state of the room
Caroline - I really don't like it when by hubby sees my sewing room - when he does, he makes comments and shakes his head. I believe creative people have other priorities!!!
The only cleaning I do in my sewing room is to dust and vacuum the floor, occasionally I just might use the steamer and wash the tiles now and again. My room looks as if a bomb has hit it, I can find everything at a glance, but!!!! if I tidy up I cannot find anything. The rest of the house is tidy and very neat, the family think I have a problem , yes I have I love to sew, so leave me be in my little heaven.
I shake my head when I see pictures of impeccable looking sewing rooms. So well organized and neat. Mine will never be that way no matter how hard I try. After all I want to stitch and cleaning takes precious time away from it. Besides when ever I organize my brain does not remember where i organized too. Fortunately my sewing room (Happy Place ) is the only room upstairs in my house. So visitors do not know about the chaos upstairs. 😊
I am now relating to your comments as I have spent too long this morning searching for a piece of fabric. Not thrown away but somewhere
I need to do exactly the same thing! I'll be careful not to throw out my trash can! You made me laugh because that is exactly what I would do! Maybe you can find a really nice little bin.
Today I found my trash can sitting outside the sewing room waiting quietly to be returned as I had emptied it. Unfortunately it was found after I had dropped loads of bits on the floor
Look at all you accomplished, at the cost of only one little bin. I usually find that by the time I finish cleaning the room, it's time to start over again. Which is to say, it never stays picked up very long.
Betsy you have made me smile as yes the tidy look in my room doesnt last long and already I am tripping over stuff
I have a ice cream container as a small bin near the machine just for little snips and threads.
I once had a clean up and can no longer find the pin cushion I loved.
I have tin cans at my machines that baby formula came in for thread clippings and I hang a Walmart bag on my door by my cutting table for trimmings of fabric but not too many of those since I even sew those onto the register tape that Angie showed us, for sashing. I have had to reach inside a can once in awhile to retrieve something threw in by accident, though. I hope your pin cushion appears again!
Babash I hope your pin cushion re appears again as its not good to loose something that you love
