I read your post about broken needles, I too was having that issue, broke 3 one after the other; I discovered that it was my thread and thread spool. Especially when the thread got closer to the end on the spool. There was still quite a lot of thread but because it was so close to the end or starting point in winding it on the spool, it was wind tighter and there fore it did not move as freely as does when the spool is fuller. Once I realized the problem, I would just pull out about a yard of thread, then I would hold it with a finger so that it still glide off smoothly. As the thread got closer to the spool I would just pull out more till I was finished stitching with that color. It was a pain to do, but I didn't break any more needles. I have a single needle machine so this might be easier to do than a multiple needle machine. Hope this help in the future for your next project. P.S. I like your ornaments :)
I have not heard of this problem before with thread. I do know that this is common with metallics. Now I know what to watch for if I get this problem too.
Beautiful job Claire and I'm glad you worked out the problem. Love Chris
