UPDATE FEB28-

I have found the problem, I hope, although I haven’t tried to embroider yet.
After seeing Nan’s inquiry I decided to go back to the machine and check it out. I was taking pictures for you of what it was hanging on, when I decided to take this part, in picture below off my other Brother machine and try. It worked! No problem with hang up and I put the needle up and down several times. Yea!!!Now I will have to order this part. Is it the bobbin case? It’s a drop in bobbin, not like the old metal cases we use to have on our older sewing machines. If my hip didn’t hurt this morning I’d be doing the happy dance!!!!❤️You all for trying to help solve my problem. Now, do you know where I can find this part online? I have a Brother PE-750D machine but my old Brother SE-350 part worked on it. Any direction you can provide, I appreciate. Thank you so much for encouraging me to see about it again.

Houston, I’ve got a problem.
Have you ever had this happen to your machine?
I started to stitch out a design and I’m not sure I can explain it well.
My top thread catches my bobbin thread and when I hold thread to try to bring it up it’s hanging on the top plate/metal cover. It did this when I tried to embroider.
What’s the solution, if you’ve had this happen? Houston, I know the problem-😉

I think I see your problem with the bobbin case... in the upper left hand side....at the top of the curved area...look at the top of the point on the inside of the curve...there are ragged edges...I have had this before. I took a nail file and smoothed out the rough edges...carefully until they are just smooth... I have been using the same bobbin case ever since then... Also, turn it over and check for any needle strikes (holes in the top area) If there are any, file off the rough spots on the back side of the bobbin case...Looks like there is also a nick on the case right above the felt pad...that needs filing too....and just sayin...that bobbin case is really dirty...You should be taking it out regularly and cleaning the entire area around and under...and also the bobbin case itself...

I will try sanding it but it may have to wait. Have to cook for the guys today. They are building a new shed today for hubby’s tractors. Our son is already here. Thanks

Glad you were able to identify the problem. I have used the following link to order a pressure foot on a Baby Lock machine. I have been having a similar problem, I am considering ordering the same part.

Hurray and I'm doing a very slow happy dance with you. This is a lesson for all of us to save bits and pieces from our worn-out machine. I know very often, the new machines use the same feet and other items. I wish I knew where you could order the piece. You can try Allstitch.com, but no guarantees they sell parts like this.

With your inquiry & encouragement I think I have. Check out my update above.🥰
I had a Brother machine we took to the dump after I kept bobbin cover, attachments, etc that now I regret bc the machine that was given to me by my daughters boss when she thought it wouldn’t work needs an arm cover or whatever irs called. The part you slip off when you want to sew sleeve cuffs. She didn’t send it or attachments so good thing I have saved mine.

I agree with consensus. Sounds like a nick in the throat plate. Rub your finger around and see if you can find it that way. I cut a disposable nail file and fixed mine by softly sanding.

Read in sewmadau below- the top thread picks up the bobbin, but before it get to the needle hole in the throat plate, it hangs on the throat plate bracket/brace/ arm whatever you call it.
I guess I really need to take it off again and see if I can get y’all a picture.
I can’t today as I’m try to finish something else I started.

Check both the bobbin and the plate for a nick, if there is just sandpaper it away. Hope that helps

There is a ‘arm ‘ for better word or brace may be what it’s called, under the throat plate that secures it to the side of the machine before you screw it down. The threads catch on that as far as I can tell.

Try changing the bobbin. I am not much help. Could there be a nick in the plate cover? Can you see where it is hanging up? If you can send a picture.

Toogie our dearly beloved machines often have a mind of their own and go off and do their own sweet thing. We meanwhile get totally frustrated trying to sort out what's going on. Feel for you dear as my V3 is in wobbly fit mode and please don't ask how I'm getting on as its not going well at the moment. Good Luck
