The love between a Papa and grandson will be forever. They are very fortunate. My son, now 51yr old, still remembers his grandpa who passed when son was 7. I get tears when son shows up wearing grandpas hunting coat. Love your pictures too!
Memories I know you cherish as does your son by wearing his coat. Our only son Brian is now 52 and our oldest. This is our youngest ( Ashley now 41) daughter’s son, Gus.
I sent you a private message.
I love the interaction between Gus and his Papa.
Oh Gus is a talker and makes Papa talk back, because Papa isn't one to talk much. Only thing is, poor Gus' speech isn't too plain and Papa's hearing isn't too good.-lol
Somehow they get along though.
How gorgeous Toogie, I love the yellow wildflowers on the side of the road too. Loved the story about the tractor, love Chris
I am glad you enjoyed it. The yellow flowers have always been called bitter weeds here. I remember the ole folks used to say if a cow ate bitter weeds, her milk would be bitter. I guess it was true, anybody remember? They do make a pretty picture though.
What a great and memorable photo...
He loves his Papa. My husband will stretch his eyebrows up during conversation sometimes and Gus has picked up this too. Now it’s a joke here. Grayson says when Papa dies we gonna have the undertaker fix that expression and his eyebrows up. We are shameful over here-lol
The picture probably made it worth all that effort. There's an antique tractor show in Orrville, Alabama each year and some of those folks travel hours to get their tractors there - others have trailers. Some come to sell but most just come to brag. The oldest in running condition gets all the attention.
We’ve been to local tractor pulls before but never brought a tractor. Yeah they like to see which model pulls the heaviest load. The one he’s on is a 1950 something Farmall. That quilt I put together for the husband of one of my sewing group had a red Farmall. I’d like to had a panel just like it with the beagle too because he always had them for rabbit hunting .
Lovely story with a superb picture
This is a drive to the neighbor behind my daughter’s house. He just rode Gus down to Bobby’s and back but it was enough to satisfy Gus.
So nice of your hubby to help out!!! This is such a sweet picture and I like the saying!! Hugs!
Yeah we all try to help each other. Yesterday afternoon Ashley had an appointment and was on her way, but had almost got to our house, when she had a flat. Thank goodness she was able to get into our son in law’s moms driveway. She called her dad for help. We already had Nora, the 8 year old here. Hubby told me to bring Ashley my car, so she could go on, to get to her appointment. So Nora and I left. Nora had to help with my door and seatbelt and we went to Beaula’s . Hub said he had to charge up the portable air compressor in order to air up her tire, to try and drive it on here a mile away. So as soon as I got there to get in the van, with Avery and Gus, Ashley took off in my car. Then hubs drives up, puts some air in her tire, but compressor wasn’t charged enough to air it fully. He then plugged it in at Beaula’s then by the time the tank was charged, the tire was flat again. 🙄 He said he just as well change the tire with that little donut spare they give you now. With this handicap van he wasn’t sure where all the jack, lug wrench, and tire was located so while he was searching Beaula called her son, which is our son in law Richard. He was mowing but came right on. Between the time he got there hubs had everything out & the two of them had the donut tire on and everything loaded backwhere it went, in about 5-10 minutes. So Nora then had to start the van and push all the security buttons that allows a non- handicap person to steer and I drove me and the girls here, while Gus rode back in the truck with Papa. Talk about a busy day! See what I mean about we all lend a hand. I’m tired just telling you-lol I told Nora it’s a good thing I had her to open my door to get me out. Ashley had said, before she left, that Nora knew how to set it for me to drive. When it starts up it is set for a handicap person to steer without the steering wheel so you just have to know what to push in order for someone like me to steer with the steering wheel. There is also a bar that goes to the floor that runs alongside where your leg is that you use to brake that I told Ashley I would have to get used to. I only had about a mile to go and I didn’t go fast with that heavy van and bicycle (lol) tire!
She bought two new tires today.
Awww, that is a picture that will smiles to everyone's face for years to come!
