A binding is a finishing touch on a quilt and is always done last. It can then be done by machine or by hand. Nowadays it can also be a combination of the two with the front being done by machine and the back by hand. It's just a matter of personal choice. Check out Jordan Fabrics and Missouri quilt Company on youtube for how-to videos. Quilting machines now cost more than a small car so it's cheaper to have someone else do the topstitching. This quilt is beautiful. Good job.
Oh, my goodness - this is a work of art!! Absolutely beautiful!! Hugs, Laura
Lovely quilt, and the quilting is perfect.
Not being a quilter I have a question why didn't you add the border before it was quilted, will you have to quilt the border once you have added it and the binding. The reason I am asking is I have a quilt top I made with the help of a very dear friend, who has since past away making this quilt very, very special to me. Once I find someone to quilt it all I have to do is bind it. This top has been waiting for sometime and since covid it has been difficult to find someone to quilt it. I guess also I am a little reluctant to get it done incase who ever does it makes a mess of it. Our local fabric shop has a quilting machine and one can do it themselves, well!!!!!! great idea if you know how. "G" I have thought of going on the net to see if there is a list of people who do this type of work. Word of mouth would be good but I no longer have friends who quilt. I should mention that I live in Western Australia.
Thanks for listening.
Have a lovely Easter
