Hello Cuties, Thursday my son, hubby, me and my sister Sheila went to my mom’s house to do yard work. No one has lived in the house in a year.

When we got there our son said he wish he would have known it was that bad, he would have brought his tractor and bush hog, instead of his zero turn mower.
There were pecan limbs that had either broken and fallen or broken but still hanging onto the tree. The boxwood hedges in the front along the driveway were so overgrown and had vines and poison oak growing in them. The grass was so thick and high and cactus weeds were 3 feet high in the back. There were poison oak vines growing up the brick wall of the house that I pulled down.
Hubs had to cut the boxwood with the chainsaw while Sheila and I picked up and piled up the trimmings. Sheila called the town hall to see if they would pick up all the limbs and such if we piled them along the road. They said they would so that was great. Brian was mowing the grass in back while we were working in front.
Then Brian got the chainsaw and started cutting the down limbs or the hanging ones in back. Some were big enough he cut into firewood. He also had to cut some of the oak tree limbs in the front yard because they were touching the ground and you couldn’t see the house from that side.
But before he went to the front, he and hubs were doing something to the chainsaw at the trailer he hauled the mower in. Sheila and I were dragging the limbs that weren’t cut for firewood, from the back to the front, along the roadside.
I had just reached for the limb I was going to drag when I thought I heard Sheila faintly call my name. I turned to see and she was sitting on the ground. She had fallen. At first I thought she was laughing because we both are always joking around, but as I got a little closer I saw she was crying. I called to the men and Brian came running. Before I got to her she said she thought her nose was broken. I said it’s bleeding. Then I said when I got to her it wasn’t her nose bleeding she had a cut about an inch or so going from her nose to her lip.
She caught my good arm and Brian got her on the other side and we stood her up. She had dirt, grass cutting and leaves ground in her face, hair and clothes.
I tried to dust her clothes off, Brian had gone to get something for her to wipe her cut. We asked her if she was alright otherwise and she said yeah, but she didn’t know what made her fall. Her glasses had been knocked off or fell off, when she rolled over, because she had fallen on her face. The glasses maybe why her nose hurt so much or may be what caused the cut, I don’t know.
I do know when we were in the front earlier picking up the hedge trimming I kept hanging my foot on the wisteria vines that were tangled in the boxwood. I thought Lord I’m being careful but please don’t let me fall on this concrete driveway. The doctor had said my arm would be okay as long as I didn’t have another fall. I hate that Sheila fell but I am so thankful I didn’t.
Sheila and I drove to BK and picked up some burgers. Then after we ate we worked until about 1:30. We had to take breaks when we just couldn’t go anymore. I told them when I was younger and got tired I was able to push on until I finished, but I can’t anymore. Hubby has hip trouble, needs replacement and refuses to have it, so he had to stop a lot and rest his hips. When he was hunting this year his nephew waited with him walking back to the truck until he felt like he could move again. We three found out real quick, if we hadn’t admitted it before, we’re too old to work like that.
We are trying to get the property cleaned up to sell since our sister Sue died and Chuck is her only heir.
I text Sheila the next morning to call or text when she got up. I wanted to see how she felt. She said she was a little sore but her nose still hurt. She said she couldn’t wear her glasses. I asked about bruising because I still have a faint half circle bruise on my arm and it’s been 7 weeks. She said maybe around her eye. She said her forehead was sensitive to touch. She had a place on her forehead that looked scraped or bloodshot.
She asked what about me. I told her I had taken my meds( I don’t take them unless I absolutely have to, muscle relaxer, pain med) and went to bed. When I awoke and before I got out of bed I stretched my arm out straight. Then I tried to raise it. I thought maybe I could raise it a little higher so maybe my ‘yard therapy’ may have helped. I don’t think it’s the therapy the doctor intended though-lol I told her then I got out of bed and oh, my back was stiff. After I was up and moving it got ok so then I could make Mason’s pillows.
Anyway, that was what I meant Karen when I said wait till you hear what I did. My son told me what happened to him yesterday but if anyone is interested it will have to be another story. Nora spent the night last night and we need coffee ( her coffee milk). So you cuties have a nice day and don’t work too hard!😁❤️Toogie

I hope you did not overdue it. I also hope Sheila is OK. I am sure yard work was not the therapy doctor had in mind.

One of the pleasures of being old is that no one expects us to take on heavy work...My mother used to say "I'm too old for that." After reading your post, I think I'll add mother's words to my vocabulary.

We should have waited until the kids could get together. Marsha and Richard were gone to Missouri all week, just got back and Grayson and Ashley are leaving for Florida in the morning. So our son was off Thursday and Friday and he wanted to go Thursday. That meant we were his only available’crew’.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry!!! The 4 of you all thinking you are still 20 year olds and working as if you are. But I would be trying to do the same thing. hehe I'm grateful you didn't fall and you are able to move after that workout. And poor Sheila looking like someone beat her up. I hope she heals quickly. And yes, I love your stories too. My life is nowhere near as exciting as your, but I am doing my best to compete with you between working with a physical trainer, trying to get back into stitching, and now I have a couple of days to get our little Cottage on wheels cleaned and stocked for a 4 day trip next week.

Toogie don’t over do it with your arm and take care. We still think we’re teenagers inside our minds but our bodies tell us otherwise. I have had a ‘restful’ day with the granddaughters and I’m shattered

Oh I know what you mean. I love the children to come but I’m exhausted if they stay too long. Nora is here now but her dad is on his way to pick her up. She is no trouble because she’s almost 9 years old. I know this was long but I know how you like my stories.
