This and the carrier pillowcase is so perfect. My prayers are with Michelle. I have had a mastectomy with chemo and radiation so I know what she is facing. I didn't know anyone during that time that did these types of things let along anyone that told me what insurance would pay for or not. A volunteer group brought me an exercise ball, a soft poly batting made insert for a bra when I was able to wear one as I didn't have reconstructive surgery but boy was I glad when I found out I could get insurance to pay for an expensive silicone breast and specialty bra. I have a friend who used to make prayer clothes for the Catholic Church and those sick and she said the priest would pray over each cloth before given out. I helped her on occasion embroider and sew on the pocket that held a prayer book and rosary. During this time her mind might be a little fuzzy as to who done what but she will have this fabulous blanket and know many prayers are said in her behalf.
I’m so sorry you had to go through this but hope you are doing well now. I know her friends at work have gone together to buy items that she will need.
May God be with her. Thankyou for a special quilt made for her!
So sad to hear about Michelle...you are such a wonderful friend, Toogie... Much love and positive prayers for Michelle as she walks this road...
It is sad and too because I think she’s young, maybe 49-50.🤷♀️ Thank you for prayers
Oh Toogie, my heart and prayers go out to Michelle. What a comfort this quilt will be for her as she goes through all of the treatments and recovery. Blessings to you and Marsha too.
Thank you for the prayers. I knew I could count on you also. Marsha came this morning and picked up her quilt. I had taken it to my sewing group yesterday. Several of the ladies there said they do this at their churches.
It is beautiful.
I knew about knotted quilts but not about prayer quilts.
The first quilt I ever saw was a knotted one. Shortly after WO2 my father came home with a packet containing a quilt as well as all sorts of groceries and two dresses my size. The company he worked for had a package from the USA for every employee. My mother did not like that the seams did not match perfectly but my interest for quilts was borne the day I saw it and I had to make one for my sister's doll from tiny remnants. Far from perfect, and I had to do it by hand as my legs were too short for my mother's treadle machine.
Martine, I loved your story about the beginning of your interests in quilting!! Hugs to you!!
I, like Laura, loved hearing about your first love of quilting and that the USA sent items overseas.
My daughter Marsha, Nae as we call her, is in her late forties so I'm assuming Michelle is around her age. She doesn’t want to take time off from work because she says it gives her too much time to think (about the cancer/surgery). Thank you for the prayers
Such a beautiful quilt and I'll certainly keep Michelle in my prayers. I always think of Meg when someone on here has a double mastectomy. Meg is still going strong, but has other health issues.
Thank you for making this prayer quilt Toogie, you are such a good person to do this for her, love Chris
You know when your kids ask you to do something you always try to. This was easy and I do like the fabrics Marsha chose. I hope Meg’s health improves. I saw she had a birthday recently but I haven’t seen a post or heard from her in a long while.
My thoughts and love to Michelle, think positive thoughts and don't give in. I have been there and know just what you are going through.
This is such a lovely idea! Of course, Michelle will be in my prayers. Bunches of hugs, Laura
That is so thoughtful and beautiful! Tons of prayers for Michelle! I had my lumpectomy June 10th and start radiation tomorrow and I have had 2 of the most wonderful women on Cuties help me get this far! I was so scared and depressed after my diagnosis, but I can get through this, and I just know that Michelle will to! I got prayers and great tips and advice from the ladies on Cute! I was lost before they started helping me get through this! You are so sweet to make that for her with as cold as they keep the hospitals and cancer centers I am sure she will put it to good use! I had not heard of these quilts before and the prayers that go with it just makes it all the more special for her! I will keep her in my prayers!
Prayers from me too Lori. We said prayers on our prayer quilt last Sunday for one of our Parishioners who needed cancer treatment. Love Chris
Lori , I didn’t know. Yes God knows our our thoughts and needs but He still wants us to pray and have a relationship with Him. Powerful indeed! Much love to you
Sending prayers for Michele. Lovely quilt to keep her warn. Toogie you are so kind. Hugs
Oh Toogie. What a beautiful idea. In the future I will always remember when I make a tie quilt to add a prayer with every knot. Prayers will be said for Michelle.
