I am heartbroken to see the devastation. I also feel helpless. All I can do is pray for all the people that are affected.
Just to let you know, we have heard from all our family (in different areas of Florida) and everyone is okay. It is still impacting on Orlando - so much destruction across Florida - but, our daughter and her family are hunkering down at their Disney Hotel. Hugs to all, Laura
Hi Laura, that's fantastic news. We've been watching the news of the Hurricane whilst here in Italy. Love Chris
P.S. I put up a post earlier this morning.
Thank you - thank you!! The beach house my father-in-law owns (which is on the Atlantic side) lost some shingles but that is very repairable!
Once the rains stop, shingles off the roof , we can deal with . Hope it doesn’t leak too much until then.Thank God the family are safe. Thanks for updating too.
Toogie I am bringing this back to the top for others to see. Pictures of dreadful devastation are appearing in the media of the havoc created. Positive thoughts from me
Toogie I have been thinking of you and your family after I read about hurricane Ian.
I'm not near but hurricanes are scary and I do feel for those that are near. We have several Cuties from Florida though and I am concerned for them and those I don't even know. Storms of this magnitude, can reek such devastation.
I'm praying for those in the path, those on the perimeter, those who will lose power and the crews who will go in to clean up the mess left. I'm sure that all of those who are staying have a build-up of provisions "just in case".
My sister is in Clearwater, just across from Tampa and we keep texting, so far so good and I'll here what's going on when in maybe an hour... good luck to all!!!
Toogie, I so appreciate this! My daughter and her family are in Orlando right now, plus Father-in-law is near Lake Okeechobee. I also have two brothers staying in the panhandle of Florida, they like Karen, hopefully will not be in harms way. Both my hubby and I grew up in Florida, we know first hand how mean these storms can be. Prayers to all! Laura
I hope you hear soon. So hard waiting to see where and what destruction takes place.
Thank you Toogie, we Floridians are watching all of the weather updates. Right now, we have projected Cat 3 to hit Sarasota, and right up the I-4, I-75 corridor, which hits a lot of us. Cat 1 around Orlando. I am North of Orlando, but with Hurricanes, you never know up until the actually do hit. We are under Tropical Storm here, with possible 20-25 inches of rain. And winds about 65 +.
Thanks to all of you for keeping the people in your prayers.
Let us know as soon as you can how you fared. The not knowing and waiting is nerve racking for sure.
Hope you can hide and closer your house. We here in Spain had heavy rais with flood. One person los his life. people had to swim oput of their houses. Water and mud up to 1.50 m inside. Horrible.
Thank you for posting this. You beat me to it. Ian is slated to be a direct hit to Tampa at this time, so our Cuties on the Florida peninsula are at risk. I know the governor has already issued evacuation orders for tourists. We have contacted friends to come shelter with us if they need a place. We are in the NW corner so not much of a risk, but we are watching. The good news is Florida is always prepped and ready. The ones we worry about are Cat 4 and 5. Hurricane Michael (Cat 5) and its devastation is always a memory for us. So please, do pray for those in the cone.
Let us know how your friends fared. Times like these we need to open our homes to shelter others and I know they are thankful for friends like you both.
