Nothing like a sort out. Funnily enough I also went through piles of material a couple of weeks ago. I know that I will never use most of the stuff I had stached away so it has all gone to charity. I now have baskets with just materials for making bags etc.
Congratulations Sarah. I am about to go in my sewing room and remove more of the fabric clutter
Hi Caroline, sounds like a lot of fun. I've got far too much fabric and 5000metre thread spools! Love Chris
I have 2 large box full of 5,000 m embroidery thread but the sewing stuff is now with someone else. I donated it to a rather surprised friend. Think Chris that we all have a fabric addiction and when we start a new project more fabric is needed
Who ya' gonna call? Stashbusters. Maybe you've got something there!
Me - I have space to have a sewing room AND a fabric room. Woo-hoo!
OK. Lucky you. Its a easy event to organise, hire a room, mention on social media for stall holders and then publicise it well
I am so with Karen and toogie, however I really need to make some space. And what of the fabric that was gifted to me. I usually do not get rid of gifts.
I sold some fabric that was my late mothers. I know my sewing style has altered over the years. I live too close to a super fabric shop. Plus as I live in the middle of town my house is used as a drop off for unwanted fabric. 9 large bin bags from a friends late mother made me realise that unless I sew it into a coffin I must reduce
Does it work like this. You sell your stash you no longer need, and replenish it with items others are selling? That would be the way it would work for me.😊
Angie each time I have gone to a Stash buster sale I haven't looked and come home with the cash in my pocket and not loads of fabric
Great idea! I would have plenty to sell too! Sounds like a great social event. I think this idea could become very popular. I am glad you had a good time.
As I said below its a easy event to organise, very social and great to rehome stuff
I know I should go through my stash and give away some of it, but I just can't bring myself to do it. So, a hug to you for being so brave and selfless. Now my question is this. Did you buy some to bring home?
I bought some knitting wool for a friend who never stops knitting and some lycra stuff for leggings for the grand daughters. We were most careful not to look which would have caused a spend
Sounds like something I would enjoy looking through. I guess when it comes to fabric, I could be called a hoarder-lol You just never know, the piece you get rid of, is exactly what you may need, for the next project. I like having a stash on hand, so I can sew whenever the notion hits me. I made a tote yesterday, for Sharon, in my group and today I'm starting back on my daughter's quilt for Christmas. I had to shut down last back attack, so I'm just starting it again. Let me know when you have the next sale so I can be sure to go!-lol lol
Toogie the next one is April 2023. Hope to see you there and would you like a bed for a few nights?
What a "win - win" situation!! Koo-does to you and your friend! How smart you both are! I never heard of a Stash Buster sale - but, I could certainly participate in one! Hugs you and your friend!! Laura
Laura they are very easy to organise, and crafters happily come along clutching their cash to buy.
