That's a beautiful quilt, Toogie. Well done!
Hugs, Lidia
Wow! Toogie, this is truly beautiful. I do hope you find a nice backing to finish it off, but don't stress about it, just take your time and look after yourself. Love Chris
Time is not on my side to order a backing and have it delivered so I can quilt it in time for Christmas. So… I’m not worrying about it. I asked her weeks ago about the backing so I could get it completed by Thanksgiving. I didn’t get a decision so it is what it is. Lanie got her fabrics at Christmas one year and quilt completed by her bday in March.
Marsha’s birthday is September-lol Thanks Chris
That is gorgeous!
I'm attaching a link where I can usually find matching 108" fabric. Good luck.
https://ineedfabric.com/collectio...
It wouldn't let me link. It's I Need Fabric dot com.
I actually looked there. I found a 45 in that may could work but am pretty sure piecing would show. Tell me what you usually do when you quilt using a darker back. I am planning on quilting with white thread. Do you use the same in bobbin when you have a dark backing of a different color bobbin. Please don’t tell me that monofilament no show bc I got some of that and had a tangled mess. Thanks for comment
Toogie - this is beautiful! Only if I could do that. LOL I found that our Hobby Lobby has the 108" wide baking. Too, there is a site that does carry beautiful backing, but it has to be ordered and the last I ordered took me nearly 3 months to get my complete order. I do smaller quilts for a ministry quilt group and sometimes I find a color of the backing that I like to use in the blocks we do. And you can get a lot of blocks out of a yard of that fabric. LOL....
Continue to do those beautiful quilts.
Thank you. I have bought 108 at our HL ( the gray I used in blocks of my Yellowstone look a like quilt ) They just don’t have a lot to select from. I have ordered online but it’s disappointing when it comes in a shade you’re not expecting and of course, isn’t returnable. I wish they would send small swatches so you could see before you buy.
I know what you mean about online shopping. Exactly what color are you looking for?
Not sure yet but I’ll know when I see IF colors are accurate. There are so many green shades and the coral sometimes looks orange online.
Beautiful, beautiful. You do such great work. You may have hated working on it, but the result is fantastic.
Have you tried Marshall Dry Goods Company for your 108 backing?
I’ve been lookin but haven’t been successful. Our QOV group orders fabrics from there. Actually, Sharon I call one of our leaders does the ordering of all the fabrics. However the last few orders she has asked my help in choosing. She usually has ordered everything I’ve suggested.
Forgot to say thank you! You know I value your opinion and really appreciate your support.
It is truly a beautiful quilt. I think the colors are very peaceful, but with all of the starting and stopping and can understand why it doesn't feel very peaceful.
Beautiful quilt. Love the colors. Star patterns are my favorite. Hugs. Nan
Toogie, I have been wondering what you have been up to. This is absolutely the most stunning I have ever seen! Good Night Irene and Love Notes go perfectly together. Now rest because Thanksgiving is soon, and you need strength for Farkle! Hugs, Suzanna.
Lol- the kids have been busy and we have too, so we haven’t played lately. On Tuesdays I try to cook for Ashley’s family because it’s a really busy day for them. However the last couple weeks they haven’t been for one reason or another. I started cutting and piecing this top then my back was out for weeks. Then I finally started again and between trying to finish QOV quilts and going in the woods, with my husband I didn’t get much done. It turned cold and last time we went in the woods I told him I thought I was gonna be sick with a cold. Thank goodness I just felt bad a couple days. I told Hubby then I needed to finish this top so we haven’t been back hunting. He has a deer stand 14 feet in air and I’ve been very careful going up and down stairs. He does have a handrail and a heater. I go with him only to ‘babysit’ him-lol I play games on my phone or read quilting magazines. If I don’t find a fabric for the back soon it won’t get quilted for Christmas. My plan was to finish before Thanksgiving.
What a stunning quilt. I always love reading what has gone on to produce your excellent work. One lucky daughter to receive it
Thank you so much C, it’s been a lot going on while making this. I think that’s why I’m glad to be finished with the top. I like to stay with a project, until I finish, but with this one I couldn’t.
I took out the built in magnifier and the fabrics are wonderful - so sweet. This was a lot of work. I hope you will rest your back and arms and hands and thinker for a few days after this one. Congratulations on a beautiful job. I know Christmas is really coming because you post pretty things!!!
Lol- The fabrics are pretty and colors are peaches, greens, and dusky blues. I’m not sure about making anything else. I originally thought I’d make 2 more but I don’t see it happening now. Seems life is keeping me otherwise busy.
Toogie, I have seen and admired so many of your quilts, but as far as I'm concerned this is the best of all. Love it, love it, love it!
Hugs, Mops
Oh M, so kind of you to say. I’m really glad you like it. Maybe I will feel happier about it once it’s completed. I had to make an extra row that I didn’t need, to make my corners all the same. In the pattern it had 2 corners of white X’s and 2 with the 16 patch. I didn’t like all that white when the border was added around the X. She may have to tuck the length under her pillows or fold the top back but I like it better with all 4 corners the same.
Toogie, I just love this and the colours! As usual, you've done excellent work.
Gorgeous pattern, I remember the song "goodnight Irene" !
I remember the song too! Thank you and I’m glad you like it. I hope daughter does.
