Add my wishes to all the other cuties.....your mum has had excellent care from you and now will continue to get great care in this facility!! This should prevent her from getting any more big owies!!

Hi Vicki, sorry I've been missing from here a lot lately. Mum is settling in, but still won't eat anything with a lump even a rice grain!!!!!!!! We are getting the nursing home to give her nutritious drinks, soft foods, purees, custards etc. She loves her Lemon, Lime and Bitters Schweppes drinks and has one a day. We have to be with her when she sips it as she could swallow it down the wrong hole and choke. It's an ongoing battle. She gets the neck-brace off in another 3 weeks! Love Chris

Thanks Laura, I have tried my best over these past 3 years and it's such a relief now to see our prayers answered and Mum in full time care. Now the next part of our journey begins. Love Chris

I know God is pouring blessings down on all of you and has you all in His arms giving you all a great big gentle hug. I'm so thankful your mum has such a loving family, has had the bestest of the best care in the hospital and now is in a facility that will give her the best possible care to keep her healthy and happy. Many hugs going to you, Jewls and Trevor because i know this is still hard for you.

Thank dear Karen, you always make me cry with your beautiful thoughts and prayers. I appreciate it so much.
It's now 8.00am Friday and I'm just about to have breakfast and will go over to Mum's house to help Jewls with some of the things we need to do today. Can't wait for Karen (co-ordinator at Opal) to ring us and let us know Mum is in her new room. Love Chris

Hi Caroline, and all you guys on here who have been praying for me.
Jewls arrived at 7.00pm Thursday evening (it's now 1.00am Friday morning as I reply!!!!!! We had a chat at Mum's house whilst she got all the animals settled then Trev arrived and we went across the road to the local pub for dinner.

Jewls was tired and me too, it was a sad day today knowing that it was the last day at the hospital (the care there was fantastic, except Mum didn't like having a male nurse wash her!!!) and that tomorrow (Friday) will be the first day in her new home.

Jewls had driven for nearly 10 hours with the dogs, a cat and a bird! We had some paperwork to sign as we need to deliver it to the Nursing home tomorrow and when I got home I found there is a 64 page document that needs signing!!!

Mum is sleeping a heck of a lot and I still can't get her to swallow 'lumpy' food, apparently it's quite common with Dementia patients as they forget to chew properly. They have Speech Pathologists, Dieticians putting their thinking caps on to help Mum.

The one good thing that Mum is looking forward to is seeing her beloved Miss Lily Rose her little Maltese Terrier (who at the moment looks like a woolly sheep) Jewls is going to give her a wash and a clip tomorrow morning.

We have to wait till Karen (the co-ordinator of the Nursing home) rings us to say that Mum is settled in her room and then we can walk up and bring Lily. She will go berserk when she sees Mum and vice versa. I think Jewls will stay till Christmas and then go back home to Tumby Bay and take Lily. Jewls other dog a German Shepherd loves having Lily as a friend but Lily's got attitude! She's one spoilt pooch!

Thanks for the lovely flowers, even though I can't see them, the thought behind them means more to me than anything. Thankyou all from the bottom of my heart. Love Chris
P.S. I'm going to sleep now as it's 1.10am Friday morning.

I meant to say that this is the second day that Jewls has driven many many hours. No wonder she's exhausted.
I warned her that Mum has gone down since she last saw her on the 29th October. Love Chris
