E-Gads! Terrible. My fabric scissor [all probably accounting for the more than 25 pair club] are in my sewing drawers or with each particular machine. I have 3 old cheap pair in a kitchen drawer where note pads, calendar, address book and pair of snip type thing so you can open the 'nobody can open plastic thing they pack stuff in'. Also keep a food pair with my knife block and an unopened new pair under my kitchen towels. I am blessed he never uses any scissors of mine. He keeps all his knives and slit making things out in his area although he has his own scissors in each of his desk drawers--3 desks in his cave rooms. He is like a hoarder so can't even get up in one room that has a desk each across from one another. He saves Everything. Boy, did that lead me down the rabbit hole in a conversation!
I am so sorry but I had a good belly laugh over this post and reading every one else's responses......I keep mine hidden in a cabinet and it would be too inconvenient to go get them instead of the pair in our kitchen....I have however caught him using my kitchen food scissors on things other than food stuff....I keep a small bottle of bleach under the sink to take care of that (when I catch him...lol)
Oh, my goodness! I can understand how this has ruined your day. And every Cutie is grieving with you. I hope you have managed to get on your feet again and you will have a pretty gift certificate under the tree for a new undamaged pair of scissors.
When my husband was with me, for the longest time my scissors were not safe from him. He was cured when I told him the cost of a good pair, and now I need to purchase another. The man had tried to cut his toenails with them. Thinking about this makes me smile and sad at the same time.. After 17 years without him, I probably would let him get away with it if he only would be at my side.
Bummer. I know I have scolded a few children in my day regarding my fabric scissors. It is so hard to find a good sharpener, so the quickest way to resolve is to purchase a new pair. I think there are designs (felties) with a snap to "lock" your scissors or warn whomever would touch them. Lol!
Now you know what to get your husband for Christmas! His very own sissors, a box knife, and instructions NOT to ever touch yours again.
Why is it so hard for them to learn? Give him some wonky scissors and some rags and have him practice cutting nice neat lines, so that he will understand WHY YOU DON'T USE FABRIC SCISSORS FOR ANYTHING BUT FABRIC! Then give him a big hug and kiss.
He needs to have you a new pair of scissors just like these under the tree! I bet he has just realized, scissors under the tree, is better than him under the ground-lol
some things, woman should put under power - for safety, as with unauthorized they do not touch, such as fabric scissors, I think the kitchen remains cold for a week, only so man can learn - hopefully
Poor fellow, doesn’t know just how serious the consequences can be. I’m sure you have set him straight now, and he will never do it again!
