Hi Cuties! I wanted to do something special and fun with the kiddos. I am making snowflakes and trying different papers and fabric. I also was trying to glue with an Elmers glue stick so they wouldn’t have to use the glue gun. However the fabric won’t hold with the Elmers. I wanted them to be able to say they made it themselves but of course now I’ll be the one gluing so I guess they won’t be able to do much. I’ll let you know how it goes as I’m going to try to get them here Monday.

The first paper bag color was made with toilet paper tubes and hot glued. The off white I tried with 24 lb resume’ paper and Elmers. Both of these did well. Then I tried the white made of fabric, with Heat & Bond Ultra Hold. I was trying with Elmers on the fabric and at first seemed to be holding well. Then some of it started popping loose so I had to get the glue gun. Also, the fabric one is cut differently so looks different. I will try a fabric like the first two and see if I like it in fabric.
I think I’ll let them make a paper one by themselves and help them with the fabric one to give their parents when they pick them up.
Rylan had expressed his desire to learn to thread (sew-lol) last time he came. His mom can draw and paint well and his dad can do skull mounts. His grandpas on both sides can mechanic and our son also does woodwork . The same can be said for my husband, Rylan’s great- grandpa so I guess you can say, between all of us, Rylan gets his desire to create honestly. I thought Gus and Nora could do this too. We will see.

Thanks! The kids are here now for us to make snowflakes today. I’m still on my coffee bc it’s a bit early for me.

Beautiful and not one pair of fabric scissors suffered the indignity of cutting paper. Lol!

Your tree looks lovely. This year I didn't put up any Christmas stuff. We are not having anyone here for Christmas so I said no to putting my 100 nutcrackers up. For your stars / snowflakes might want to try using a stapler that what the schools use when they make there.
Merry Christmas & Happy Stitching

Wow! A 100 nutcrackers? My son-in-law Grayson’s mom decorates with nutcrackers. Two 12-14 feet ones guard her house entrance. Thanks for suggestions.

Would you adopt me? Your house sounds like so much fun. Those paper snowflakes look fantastique. Hardly a free space on the tree to hang anything more. Have fun

Oh, my goodness, these snowflakes are gorgeous, and I love your tree. I agree, our sticky adhesive sprays are temporary so will not work. It would have to be fabric glue for the fabric snowflakes. I wonder if double sided tape might work. Questionable, but might be worth a try. Or maybe iron on tape like we use for hems. But then, can the kids safely manage using the iron to press the areas? I hope you manage to take a picture of the finished projects to share. And hugs to you for doing your best to make wonderful memories for them all during a very busy time of year.

I will be rushed today ( but isn’t that what the holidays are for?-😉) because last night my spinster niece called and said she’s coming in today and her dad may be coming with her. They live about 2 hours away. First she said they’d arrive late morning but I reminded her of church so she said early afternoon. I had planned to cook for her but I told her I’d pick up fast food lunch and she said that would be good. Some days you just can’t get it all done. I wanted to come back and prepare my ‘ craft class’ for the kids for tomorrow. Looks like I’ll have a late night and early morning since Rylan will be dropped off here at 7:15am.

It must be the time of the year, we could not sleep the other night, we got up and finished the wrapping. We were both exhausted the next day.
Your snowflakes look beautiful on your tree. We have a little tree that changes from blue, green silver and red. I hang little candy canes on the branches. We love it, plus it does not drop any little bits of green.
Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Thank you and the same wishes to you and yours. This tree sheds like a real one it’s so old, but just when you’re putting it up and taking it down. Your tree sounds perfect.
I told my hubs yesterday when we get back from grocery shopping we will need to go back to bed, we didn’t though. Then I told him after lunch, we need to go to bed, we didn’t though, we played Farkle to keep awake so we would sleep last night. I did wake up during the night for a while but eventually went back to sleep. I did not want to get up when the alarm went off but Gus and Nora are having their Christmas program at their church so we had to get up earlier. I do hope y’all slept well. ❤️Toogie

Well, you must be a psychic because neither I nor hubby slept last night. This a first for me though. We went to bed and after about an hour of tossing and turning we both got up. Been up all day too. We were at Walmart grocery shopping at 6:30 this morning.

They look stunning Toogie, I'm sure everything they do will be delightful and you can be happy knowing that you taught them a new craft. Love Chris

Try fabric glue. Warning it will glue anything it touches so clothes... but with an apron and supervision it would work.

I have some 5000, or some number, in a tube for fabric that I’ve never opened- wonder if that would work for them to use?

A "tacky" glue would work well. If it needs to be washable, I use "liquid stitch" but it popped open the last time I used it and got all over my clothes. Be careful not to squeeze to hard on the bottle. If your 5000 glue is temporary, it may not hold tight.
