What an ordeal...I know how it feels when you are asked countless times to do things, especially at the last minute...Those coats are not pleasant to stitch and you did an excellent job... I hope you can breathe a bit easier now that it is done...
My daughter in law had to tell her mom that if she placed an order for me to sew a gift for Cmas for her friends that I want or need months notice because I do things when the energy kicks in and if it is a lot then I do little at a time until done. I don't do well in a crunch time or something is very difficult. That is when my machine isn't friendly towards me.
Thank goodness my machine didn’t act up but I did have to bring it to my kitchen table to let the jacket weight rest on the table. She left me $30 for stitching by my chair. I saw it before she left and put it in the baby’s bag. I told her I don’t charge my kids& grandkids. She said well this was for her daddy and it was trouble for me. Anyway after she left I saw she had put the money on the small table by the entrance.. I don’t do things for my family so I can make money. I do it so they can save money.
Hi Toogie
Yes the design tells you how long it takes to stitch but not how long all the other pieces take . I have done x2 towels from smart needle that have the rings embroidered into them to me took 78 mins sewing only . Never done these before what a job with the cutting the hoop hole with the bulk at the triangle at the top . think I cut some threads so there might be a tad of glue to be used LOL Plus I was at hospital for injections in my spine yesterday and came home to another death in extended family yesterday life is not always good when you getting older . Sometimes I wish this year didn't happen I have had numerous trips to hospital they have been very good trying to sort me out but some have only been short fixes . If this dosent work they are talking about spinal fusions dosent make me happy. Thats just me. My family have had one shitty year as well plus 2x more direct family deaths both same family ( my husbands )one only 2 weeks ago and both with strokes .
Sorry about my miseries Usually I am a watcher and feel for you all . I suppose one thing the dratted towels are ready for my daughter .
Have a good Christmas and try to get some me time . After boxing day I am going to lock-the door and not answer the phone .

Hilda I’m sorry to hear you’ve had so many deaths and about your back. My husband had a few injections in his back but wouldn’t have the fusion. He did suffer for quite awhile though. I hope the injections do you some good. Back pain can be so debilitating. I know how it feels myself so I feel for you. I do hope you manage to enjoy a Merry Christmas. We have ours here Sunday.
Yeah!!!!! You did it and it turned out great
Thank you! Caleb’s wife just picked it up and she liked how it turned out. She said her dad will be so pleased. I hope so
Well done Toogie, it looks great, even though you had a tough time with it all. I'm glad you got it finished.
I agree with Betsey, tell your family and friends no sewing things from the second week or third week of December!!!!
Have a great Christmas with all your family and friends, love Chris
Here's hoping 2023 is a better year.
My girls learned at Halloween one year, don't bring me last minute costumes to make. Evidently, in-laws didn't hear.
I'm glad it's finished too. I haven't wanted to work on anything until I finish Marsha's quilt and really don't have the ump to finish it. I told her she won't be getting it for christmas so she won't be disappointed.
Toogie, I would let everyone that might think they can depend on you for completing their Christmas gifts next year know that you now have a cut-off date of December 15 (or 1st or whenever) so that you can enjoy the Christmas season more fully yourself. No projects taken in after December 15. My sister used to do a children's boutique from her home and she took in a lot of French sewing and smocking and applique outfits for little brothers and sisters. It was the same story every Easter and Christmas. She would be sewing till 2 or 3 in the morning and then have to be available at 7:30 for pickup so that everyone's little darling could look precious at church or grandma's on Christmas or Easter morning. It never failed to dampen her spirit. Same people, same story when she had a retail store. Some jerk would call her on Christmas Eve and say he had just realized that he had somehow forgotten to get his beloved wife a Christmas gift and he would spend lots of money if she would just open her store for him only on Christmas morning so he could buy a wonderful gift and get it wrapped, too, by the way.
After reading this, I'm glad I don't have a shop.
You try to make everyone's Christmas special but sometimes its at the cost of your special times. I wanted in this case, the giver and receiver to be happy but with little time on my hands this close to Christmas, I am too busy for any stress like this.
O' I feel for you. Another case of people not realizing what all is involved.
It is like you go into sewing room and say 'machine do this or do that'. (all you have to do to get it made.
It looks wonderful and I hope the rest of you week is more relaxing.
Merry Christmas to you and Bless you for holding you tongue no matter what head said. ;-)
That is exactly what my sister said. People have no idea that even though the machine reads a design and stitches it, the fabric or jacket has to be measured for placement, hooped, threads selected etc before stitching even begins.
Merry Christmas to you too. I will reattach a bow on a dress for Nora and then my sewing is over till after Christmas.
Well done. Happy Christmas. Hugs
Merry Christmas to you too Shirley. Today I’m just not feeling very merry😉🙄thank you
Toogie - you did a great job. And last-minute things can sure cause a lot of frustration.
Can you tell? !!!
I’m usually good at patience but this has been a trying day.
Looks perfect to me.... Worth all the time invested. Cheers - Roberta
Thank you Roberta. It's good to know someone appreciates it. Merry Christmas to you!
