Hi Cuties, well while we swelter in the great Southland, our American and European Cuties are freezing in extraordinary conditions.

As a lot of you know, Trev and I are avid Cricket fans and at the moment we’re watching the Test between Australia and South Africa. We’ve just seen David Warner get his 200 runs!! Amazing effort as it’s 37C in Melbourne!!!

Anyway I’ve been busy sewing a Stained glass window design from Emb Library - A nativity scene.

It’s stinking hot here too as we are up at our friends place in the Hunter Valley house sitting/dog sitting for 2 weeks.

My sister is visiting Mum everyday and I’m going back tomorrow to chat with the Speech pathologist and with Jewl’s about Mum not being able to eat properly.

Merry Christmas to you all. Love Chris

Beautiful stained glass panels!!!! We are finally having a warming trend for a few days after the bitter cold. Some of the pipes are still froze for the barn and I have been carrying buckets of water, not fun at all. Hope you cool off soon. Happy New Year. Blessings and prayers for your mom

Very beautiful and what a lovely place to doggie sit and sew. Oh how I wished I had your weather. Today not so bad where I live in the states but still and ice covered hill but snow is melting. I hope we have no other bad winter weather--guess I am a dreamer.

Thanks gals, I’ve finished the 6 panels now. It’s going to be 35C here today (Tuesday). L

Beautiful Nativity blocks. Beautiful nativity blocks. How many will you make? The house is amazing, and I bet the view is awesome. I would trade your hot weather for this cyclone bomb we are having! Glad you have some time to rest and enjoy. Things not so good here, lots going on. Hugs, love and flowers to you, Suzanna.

Hi Suzanna, there are only 6 blocks in this set. The view here is beautiful, lots of vineyards and gum trees. This morning on my drive back to Newcastle I saw 4 little Wallabies (small Kangaroos) and an Emu on the side of the road. By the time I'd gone past the Emu it was too late to turn around to go take a picture of it. It really surprised me, as you don't often see them, they are relatively reclusive birds.

We've been watching the dreadful weather that has been lashing America and mourn for all those who have lost their lives. Love Chris

Hope you get some heat relief, I'm not a hot loving person either ;-) . In cool America but not snow zone thankfully.
I purchased the same design earlier in sm size, but didn't have time to make this year, will hopefully get it stitched before next Christmas. Really enjoy seeing yours as you work on it and looking forward to reading your answers to all the questions.
Love your color choices and how it is stitching for you. What type fabric have you stitched it on. Any tips would be appreciated.

Hi Worthy, I'm hoping for relief too. Summer in Australia is very unpleasant and I just don't like it hot.
I always use cotton and this is a little printed white on white floral design. You don't see it, because it's covered by all the stitching. Love Chris

The blocks look great. Glad you are able to have some time to stitch. I am curious how you are going to use those blocks.

Your Navity looks like a lot of work even if it’s a small size, but you didn’t say. I take it you brought your machine or your friend has one. I’ve seen this place before when you house sat. It’s a beautiful place. Tell us where the friends went, are they vacationing? Is that solar panels on the roof? I can’t see good on this phone.

Hi Toogie, these squares are sewn in the 8x8 (200x200) hoop. I bring my machine up here with me when we look after their property. Our friends have gone up to Coolum in Queensland, Yes, they have Solar panels all over the place!!!! John (the home owner) is connected to Elon Musk's satellite, so we have lots of reception now. It's good to see you are keeping busy doing what you love. I love the tile scenes, but my hubby has forbidden me to hand, or machine stitch another picture for the walls. hehe I hope you manage to find someplace cool to be comfortable. Prayers are going up for your mum too.

Hi Karen, thanks so much for your prayers, I know many people have been praying for her. I'm actually sitting in bed with the air con coming through the vents in our bedroom here in Mount View. It's gorgeous! Love Chris

Looks like your having fun. Wet in my bit of Wales which is not unusual at all but not freezing rain. I remember after my father had his stroke that liquids were thickened to help him swallow. Chris I hope that your mum can be helped.

Hi Caroliine, yes, Mum's been drinking that stuff since 22nd November, as of today she doesn't have to anymore. She looks better, but still has another week or so with the neck-brace. She can't wait to get it off. She actually ate some Raisin toast for morning tea and half a Croissant (Ham and Cheese) for lunch. Love Chris

Chris, it is lovely. When you sew their designs, do you follow their recommendations for thread color, or do you choose your own brand and palette? Have fun in the Valley.

Hi Betsey, no, I wanted different colours to what they had shown. These are more pastel except for the red and bright green, but it looks ok when all put together. Love Chris

P.S. Trev and I are off to an Irish Pub tomorrow for lunch with our daughter Amy, Steve, Ophelie and Delphi, our elder Daughter Dana and her partner and my Niece Emma (who is 22 weeks pregnant) and her husband from Canberra (they're staying with Amy and Steve).

Hi Marikan, there will be another 3 below that row with a star, Mary, Joseph and Jesus and the 3 Shepherds. I'll then sew them together to make a banner to hang in the Church. Love Chris
