You do such a good job on your quilts, it will be much loved by the veteran who receives it. Thank you for the link for the quilt pattern. It always surprises me how a different a quilt can look with another fabric.
I always hope the way I figure in my head will actually come out looking good, so you’re right about being surprised. I don’t know what fabric we have for backing to match but I thought I might come back with the black, as binding, around the edges. Thanks
Toogie, you are the perfect quilter. I like yours better than the pictured pattern. You really know how make it your own. One vet will be extremely happy with your donation, Hugs and love, Suzanna.
Thank you Suzanna, what a nice thing to say. I believe Sharon and other members pass me the ‘problem’ fabrics, panels that they don’t know what to do with. Sometimes it takes a day or two of studying before an idea hits me. I h as d saved this pattern along with others in a folder I named Focus Fabrics. Sharon got a bundle of military fabrics and I knew I’d get some one day. I had just enough different color fabrics to use for this.
This is really a wonderful quilt. I like central diamond style quilt patterns (around the world, etc.). They always look so different, depending on the fabrics, and exact lay out. Yours is beautiful, and your community is truly lucky to have you and the other ladies who give so much of your time to make these.
Wow! Toogie, I love all your quilts, I know they go to loving recipients, but some of them I'd love to keep myself he he he!. Love Chris
Lol- Chris you sound like Sharon, our leader. She couldn’t believe I was giving the Bargellos. I think she woulda like to keep one-lol
Toogie, simply beautiful. I have a nephew that was over there at that time, and I would get notes from him written on his MRE cartons. LOL
Beautiful. Wow Toogie, you really have a vision. Hugs. Nan
Nan I think I studied the fabrics, thinking of ways to make it, longer than it actually took me to make. The squares and half square triangles are 5.5 inch so it went pretty fast. I made it in two days.
Wow Toogie, this is really beautiful even with the combat colors in the fabrics. They just coordinate very well. The Veteran who receives this one will be overjoyed. Nice job.
My niece Eraine asked me who it was for. I told her I have 5 on my list right now so it will go to one of them. Sharon, one of our leaders chose the fabrics. This is another one of those military fabrics that a lot of sewers don’t know what to do with it. Like I told Nan I sometimes have to study a while. Thanks
