Well - I hope all of you Cuties had a good Easter. I woke up with so much pain in my left ankle and up into my leg, but I had so much to finish for the Easter dinner. By the time I got to our daughter's house my ankle was so swollen daughter was quite concerned. She got me an ice pack and made me rest it before all of the little ones came in. It was good to see all of them, and had fun with watching them all find eggs, and the excitement that they all had. I went to bed with the aid of a pain killer, and slept through the night, but woke up this morning and swelling was still bad so called my doctor. Luckily, they took me right in, and I was able to see my doctor. X-rays were done, and my doctor suspected a fracture of my fibula. Right away she sent a referral to an orthopedist. I called their office on my way home but had to leave a voice mail. But my daughter also told me that that had a walk in clinic there. So... long story short. I did have a facture, and an ankle sprain. Since I felt I had injured my foot maybe 8-9 days ago, they put me in a walking boot, and I have to go back in another week to have more x-rays to make sure that the break is healing properly. I told the doctor it sure sucks to get old. This is going to be fun trying to get around in this boot for 8 weeks. LOL

EDIT;

I have had pretty good news on the healing of my leg and ankle. I went on Monday to have another x-ray and check and the PA said that it is nearly completely healed, and that I could wear the boot for another 2 weeks, and come back to be fitted with the brace, or wear my boot when I needed it, and he would send me home with the brace. I chose being fitted with the brace, and have been doing pretty well with it. I can wear my regular shoes with the brace, and it actually feels some better during the day. I told hubby that if I know we are going somewhere that I will be on my feet a lot I will wear the brace. I sure don't want to risk any damage to it.

Oh my! That is one surprise no one wants to experience. I agree with rescuer, wear a shoe with the same height as the boot. I spent about the same amount of time in a boot so I can understand your concern, but I found life to be so much easier and with less pain thanks to the boot and a comfortable shoe. Prayers up for full healing and much less pain than you have been experiencing.

I have some shoes that have a good sole on them, but nothing as high as what the boot is. I had to quit wearing wedges and heels a few years back, but some of the walking shoes I have are helping to get through this.

And so attractive, too. Urgh! Well, we'll hope for the best, proper healing and with the least amount of frustration and bother. I still remember the Thanksgiving the boiling hot carafe of coffee burst all over my mom's hand and wrist. Bad burns and lunch was, uh, well, delayed. Probably the closest I ever came to hearing my mom swear. (She didn't.)

Wear a shoe on the other foot with some height--about an inch. If not, you will have a very sore back from a "limp"
I'm glad you called a doctor!

I am too. At my age it is never better to treat yourself. LOL Not even thought about having a fracture in my leg. Ankle, yes, but not one of the leg bones.
