Ta dear. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control I can’t see them. Thanks very much
Toogie - a beautiful job as usual. You have quite the set up there. I had a chance to get a 10' quilter where you use your machine to do the quilting. I had no place to put it. It would have been a great buy for a quilter like yourself. I remember seeing my mother and daddy setting up the quilt forms in their living room and both of them working on hand tying the quilts that they made together.
My husband had made me the quilt boards frame and stand to hand quilt. The last time I used it and hand quilted was our 50th anniversary quilt. When I found this machine in the table the lady Mary told me when she went to buy it new it was on the frame. She didn’t have the room either, so they dismounted it and put it in the table, for a sit down long arm.
I would love to have the frame set up but I’d have to get rid of all my living room furniture and I don’t think that would go over too well with my husband or big family-lol
Wow! You and Angie certainly made a beautiful quilt from these blocks. You are both amazing.
Excellent work. I wonder how long this pretty quilt has been waiting patiently for someone like you to finish it? Lucky you having so much space to work on such a large piece of work.
Yes, it makes it so much easier with the tables and of course the 18 inch throat space, thanks.
Toogie what make is the machine please? A friend is looking for a machine with a wide throat space.
Mine is a Queen Quilter Eighteen. I think it’s made by Tin Lizzie and they are no longer in business someone said. I’ll try to add a picture but it will be above in comments. I love the throat space. I don’t have all the Bells & Whistles like newer programmed machines but I can quilt on it better than a regular sewing machine.
Lucky find for your friend and very lucky to have a friend like you.
Wow, I am sure someone will treasure this gorgeous quilt and the story that goes with it. Toogie to the rescue again with a job well done.
Splendid job! I like the enormous set-up, most impressive. Does it work easier than rolling up the quilt? I am always struggling with the weight and don't do larger than baby or lap quilts.
Yes, the tables help tremendously. It keeps the quilt from dragging, although once in a while, a safety pin may catch where the 6 foot table and the sewing table meet up. I used to roll it but I guess I’ve done so many now I work like this. Also, I started in the center, maybe a block wide and go all the way down that width. Then I go back to the center, next to the block width I just stitched and quilt it all the way down to the bottom edge again. I keep quilting like this until I finish that quarter of the quilt. Then I turn it 90 degrees and start next to the block I first started, working the blocks width and quilting my way down again. After quilting each quarter section of the quilt I turn another 90 degrees until I have all four quarters quilted.
Have I totally confused you?
On the contrary, it is absolutely clear to me. Might try doing my next one the same way. Now I am of to Norway for a nice stay at my daughter's
