I see you quoting Clebe McClary, the boys' gym coach at my junior high school 45 or so years ago. He is a remarkable Vietnam veteran and Christian who came home to serve in so many other ways after undergoing years of reparative surgeries. An emblem for me of the upright man standing before God and clinging to his values. I encourage all of you to Google Clebe and read or hear some of his speeches, truly an awesome person and example for young people to follow and try to exemplify. After losing part of his arm below the elbow, he would still do clap hands pushups in a contest with his students, which showed his immense determination and strength. Those who could do more than him got an automatic A for that grading period. (Very few.) He took on my cousin in a situps contest that lasted for two class periods (1 1/2 hours) and resulted in cousin earning an A.
