This is another bit of Hawaii in Florida. I cut the top off of the pineapple brought back to us. Put it into the ground and have watched as it grew ever so slowly. I actually have (2) pineapples growing, but the other was harder to see. These are very small, but still smell nice. Can't wait until the turn golden.

I'll second the Yummy! My attempts never amounted to more than leaves as my dog kept pulling them out of the ground. LOL! Guess she didn't like the spiky bits.
You really have a green thumb! hugs n roses, M

The plant itself does not get big, and unfortunately the pineapply does not get like the ones in the stores. But still very sweet and good.

I have done this over a year ago still waiting for fruit, maybe not in enough sun. So how long dit it actually take?

It actually takes a couple years or better for them to bear fruit. Too, once they bear fruit the plant "dies", but comes up with another growth. These are not in much sun, but seem to be doing well. I think that I have about 5 or 6 of them started now.

My mother used to be able to grow anything. She got beautiful roses once, too the cut roses, stuck in the ground, and had beautiful bushes - now me? I tried that, have a plant growing, but very spindly, and has never had a bloom or even a bud. Must be doing something wrong.

My husband is the rose grower in our family as was his mother and grandmother - he can did something up - that is spindly and make it bloom before the growing season is over - I do well with house plants, some! Hehehe1
