Oh Vicki, I'm so sorry you are having this sciatica pain. I got to a Pain clinic and the pain doctor has given me injections that have taken away the pain. Is it possible for the surgeon to do an ablation to block the pain. Prayers for you... Jan
If we were still in Illinois I probably would have already been treated...but alas am in rural AR and closest good hospital is 60 miles away. When I had this similar sciatica 15 yrs ago I had 2 epidural but did not get any relief...at this point not sure what am gonna do as it is getting to where I can hardly walk...☹️
I feel for you... Prayers are coming your way... Rest and I pray you feel better soon HUGS
Vicki, I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this. Go online and watch physical therapist showing how to stretch your buttock and lower back to eventually relieve the pain. I know you probably aren't able to do that now, but once the muscles have relaxed with the meds, try it so that you don't have to go though this. It's the stretch where you take the affected leg, while on your hands and knees, and bring that knee up under your torso while stretching the other unaffected one straight back behind you. There are dozens of videos, just find one of them that looks like what I tried to describe. Praying for relief quickly for you!
Thanks so much Jerilyn...I will get a regimen for stretches via internet when I can move better. I have never suffered like this before...I hate when night fall comes as it intensify the pain...ugh...
Sorry you are in so much pain. I hate to hear anyone is in pain. I had sciatica back in the '80's. I went to a chiropractor then, but he passed away and never have found another like him. Hope you feel better soon. My daughter is going through the lack of sleep thing too. But, for a much different reason. She broke 11 ribs in multiple places.
I'm so very sorry you are suffering, basketkase. I also get sciatica pain to the point where I cannot stand for more than a few minutes at a time (thankfully, it has been a while!). My Dr. prescribed a non-opioid nerve medication. Unfortunately, I suffered from several of its known side-effects. Sitting at the computer or sewing machine on an exercise ball truly helped--an awesome suggestion from the physical therapist. I hope you can find relief soon.
Hi Auntie Annie......same here, I can barely walk to the bathroom....I had my first attack about 15 yrs ago, but this one is a douzzy...I dread the night time as that is when it is worse.....
Oh Vicki, my heart goes out to you. I suffered with this for years so I know the pain you are experiencing. Take the pills and rest and rest. If you can manage, try to lay on your back with pillows under your lower legs. Yes, you look like an overturned chair. Just lay there like this for as long as you can. Hopefully it will help. It worked for me so hope it works for you.
Hi Karen....yes, that is how I have been trying to sleep, but the pain has been so overwhelming I am up 2-3 times an hour. The Toradol shot she gave me is starting to at least touch the pain....my muscles have tightened up in my neck and shoulder from all this and that pain is almost as severe, that is why she is giving me muscle relaxers...
